Yeah, it was like that at our polling place, too. People were just grim-faced and determined to go vote.
All the Bambi supporters I know are euphoric, these days. I hope that means that all of those grim-faced line-standers are there to vote for McCain/Palin!
I voted in Slidell, Louisiana this morning. There were about 300 people in line when I got to the polls at 5:45. It took me about 45 minutes to vote once the polls opened at 6:00 am.
The voters in line were mostly white (more than 90%, I’d say) and I would estimate they voted fairly overwhelmingly for McCain.
***not a word was spoken — like waiting for an execution.***
Voted early, first day two weeks ago, then drove hubby and waited outside for him last week.
We’re in TX, an uber conservative city (Fort Worth).
HUGE numbers, no young voters, MANY more blacks than normal...
but while I was waiting both times, people asked me questions: “how does this work, I’ve never voted early”, “it’s been years since I last voted”, and “I’ve never voted in this state”.
In other words, they were people who would not normally have been there and they GRIM and SERIOUS just as you saw.
