In Indiana, a highly Conservative area of the state, there was a bigger line at 6:30am unlike it was in ‘04.
NW Indiana here...highly blue area...maybe 50 voters in the first hour. Two problems...drop box counter not functioning upon arrival (repaired before I dropped my ballot...SO department supervision and one dem just outside the door electioneering (Indiana for Change). Electioneering has been reported.
My county is red. My state is sometimes red. There has never been a line at the polling place before, but there was today. Half a block, took an hour and a half to vote.
Many people here were planning to vote, to take off work if need be, to arrive late at work if necessary. Many are not being supportive of a particular candidate, but feel they really need to vote.
In the community, there are 2/3 McCain & Palin signs, 1/3 Obama signs. Very few bumper stickers. Many of the yard signs are for local candidates.
