I know that you are speaking about the independent voter here. I disagree with you that McCain does not have a chance. There are enough independents out there with their heads on squarely that will pull this off for McCain. I would strongly argue, however, that right-leaning, young dems do in fact cherish style, youth and humor. So you do have a point.
But I agree with your end result.
Re: When all things are equal (or pretty level), style will win out over substance
And this means people will vote for Obama????
Sorry. Not buying it.
You’re absolutely right. I don’t know if you ever saw a movie called “Idiocracy” (rather vulgar in places) but its message was that we are becoming a very stupid people and “branding” and mottos have replaced critical thinking and articulate communication. The people in the film communicated through buzz phrases found in advertising. “Hope” and “Change” are very close to the movie’s premise. I was chilled to see an Obama bumper sticker with “Hope” imposed over a color-blocked picture of Obama that greatly resembled a 1970’s poster of “Che”. Rush’s parody on “Hope” and “Change” and these kids talking about the future is so close to reality.
I did vote. I was #237 at 8 AM, having waited in line since 6:20 AM. I am usually #74 at 2 PM. The turnout was unbelievable (and slow) and I saw really strange looking people I can’t imagine living in my district muchless my neighborhood. No Republicans monitoring it. No McCain signs but a couple of Obama poll-watchers, which made it feel like visiting a Communist country.
It’s ironic that the legislation that McCain crafted may have created the limitations which will undermine his election. The “officer and gentleman” handling of Rev. Wright, etc. only can work if the other person is also a gentleman, which Obama has proven he is not.
You're about as accurate on that as you are with your absurd Obama cheerleading prediction!
Better save it for the Obama people at the polls.
Good advice... since I haven't a clue where you are voting, consider yourself served!
“Branding and mottos” ping. Good post.
They have certainly hidden his agenda and beliefs. I think his actual brand name, and public persona is overexposed. Your right that the real man is mostly hidden, but then some of it was peeping through enough that I think most realize his persona is phony. They just might not know how deep the hole goes.
Recall how Obama was walking away with the Democrat nomination before Rev Wright became infamous. Even Democrats sensed that he was phony then. But the tragedy is that most people don't want to know how bad he really might be...
11:53 PM is early in the morning if you live east of that time zone...
To know him...is to become scared of him. Bets are that we will have a chance to do both...
Yeah...ok, revealing. Your reasoning skills explains a lot.
They do that - or something just a violent - and seek to steal what is the hard-earned savings of the working people in America. People don't give a dang about anybody but themselves.
Black is white, white is black, good is evil, evil is good.
Wow.....thanks for apol.......I know exactly how you feel.....it’s the ONLY thing that ALGORE was ever right about....up is down, black is white, good is evil. We are living in END TIMES.
