COLUMBIA REGIONAL AIRPORT -- Sarah Palin took time out of her busy schedule for some photo opportunities at the Columbia Regional Airport just before she left Mid-Missouri.
Palin showed her appreciation to a group of Columbia and Jefferson City Police Officers as well as Missouri Highway Patrol Troopers who helped escort Palins motorcade between the Airport and the State Capitol.
Officers say they were pleased that the vice-presidential candidate took the time to say thank you for their service.
Palin also took some pictures with Boone County Republican Party Volunteers.
Interim Columbia Police Chief Tom Dresner said, I knew ahead of time that there was a photo op. There always is for law enforcement. I got a little advance notice. Saturday night, I found out. I certainly took them up on it.
Palin Supporter Jane Piester said, I had an opportunity to tell her that my son served in the war and that I really admired her strength because I know that she is going through the same thing that I went through. She was very nice and said, tell your son I appreciate his service.
Palin plans to vote in her home state of Alaska after making several last minute campaign stops across the country.
