Romney says Obama is not a socialist
The Hill ^ | 03 Nov 2008 | Klaus Marre

While John McCain's campaign has tried to tie its Democratic rival to socialism, one of the Arizona Republican's top surrogates said Barack Obama is not a socialist.

McCain's campaign had seized on Sen. Obama’s statements that he plans to “spread the wealth around” and sought to tie the Illinois Democrat to socialism.

But former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), while arguing that Obama’s economic plan is a “job-killer,” said Monday on CBS’s “Early Show”: “You know, I don’t think Barack Obama’s a socialist. I think a lot of his policies are inspired by the pathway [that] Europe took. I think the idea of having the government take over healthcare and raise taxes on employers is the wrong direction for the country.”

Romney, who was the GOP surrogate tasked with appearing on all of the morning talk shows, also said both candidates are “terrific men,” when asked if the country would be in good hands if the Democrat is elected.

“I’ll be very concerned about the economy for the country. I’ll be concerned that the economy will be in a slow-down or a recession for a longer, deeper period,” Romney stated. “I'll be concerned about long term, about a president who would raise taxes on businesses and, if you will, through this intimidation, impose unions on small businesses.”

"I don’t think Barack Obama’s a socialist. I think a lot of his policies are inspired by the pathway [that] Europe took. "

What the hell kind of government does ol' Mitt think they have in Europe? It's socialist.

The other poster was right, I sure hope ol' Mitt doesn't have an future GOP aspirations...his actions of late show him to be a genuine RINO. I guess he thinks if more than one wife at a time is OK, then more than one party at a time is ok too.

Methinks Mitt is pushin’ for a cushy spot in the Obama administration. Wouldn’t shock me in the least.

With that kind of talk Romney can kiss his future political aspirations goodbye.

But then again, Romney and his minions probably don't think the United Order was Socialistic.

No wonder Cato Institute rated him a “C” on his financial governance of the Bay State. Lest astute than folks give him credit for.

To be fair, I don't think McCain would have said Obama is a socialist, either.

In his attacks on Gov. Palin (he hates women)
and Sen McCain )(long-standing since last year),
shape-shifting Myth Romney makes the betraying leper look good.

Romney was rated a "C" overall by Cato, also because he betrayed President Bush. Here are the facts.

As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal.

Mitt the twit is himself a socialist, what with his Massachusetts Health Care for all plan. He is also a slimeball. He is running for 2012, I guess. I think he must comb his hair with one of those switch-blade combs and an industrial tub of brylcreem.

sounds like the Mitt is cruising for a “bipartisan” appointment in the new cabinet of the Great One if it occurs. This is probably if it occurs be a cabinet of carpet baggers aka elists snots from NE or Chicago or Hollywood only and/or Ivy Leaguers since the rest of us are too stupid and cling to our guns, Bibles and way of life and have to be coddled and nannied not realizing they are only balkanizing the USA even more and act like a bunch of racist pieces of shi*t.

Hey, Mitt... Europe is socialist.

I don't know what socialism is supposed to mean now, but when Mitt was in school back in the 1960s it was assumed that socialism meant state ownership of the means of production. By that standard Europe isn't socialist. By Marx's or Lenin's or Castro's or Chavez's standard it isn't socialist either.
