Most Jews will not vote for anyone with an R after their name.
Even in 1980, Anti-Semite Jimmy Carter got 60 percent of the Jewish vote against Reagan. Reagan was the first Republican I ever voted for.
Most of them aren't really undecided. They are McCain supporters who don't want to say so.
So when they vote for McCain on Tuesday, it will look like the undecideds broke for McCain.
Good post. Savage had a caller on his show who said the same thing. My guess is he was Italian American from NYC. He pointed out that liberal Jews and Catholics have become less or really non-religious. They are filled with guilt and liberalism has really filled the void as their religion. I wish I remembered everything he said because he was the best caller I have heard on any talk radio show. I was in my car and just tuned it in. They guy really nailed it.
I get it about not religious and throw tacky Bar-Mitzvahs. I have a friend from France who is (I assume) Conservative and very observent. He said he had to leave France because he feared for his children’s lives. He said Europe is finished for the Jews and then in the near future finished for the non-Muslims or few practicing Christians.
I am shocked that many American Jews are clueless about Obama’s connections with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood (Saudis).
I have been mystified for years as to why Jews appear to be voting their own destruction. Except for the Biblical command to “bless Israel” I’d be about done with them at this point. How on earth can anyone, especially Jews, vote for the party endorsed by those sworn to kill us all, Jews first ?
In PA in 2004, Kerry only took 11% of Republicans.
The only theory I have read that would explain why Obama is getting such a large % of conservative voters is that rural voters, strongly pro-McCain, are just not responding to polls, so pollsters end up getting their conservative sample from urban and suburban voters, who are much more liberal than their rural counterparts.
I like this poll for how straightforward it is. We have some work to do to win this thing, but there are some areas that show promise. Years of education don’t seem to matter (or in reverse — maybe reflecting academe Obamamania), but middle and upper middle class people all strongly favor McCain. People who are all kinds of Christian favor McCain. (Embarrassed to DEATH about my race-conscious Jewish brethren, all with something to prove about how cool they are. I can assure you that if this candidate were a very pale-skinned man whose every friend was an Israel enemy, the liberal Jews would probably be all campaigning against him. They are voting en bloc as usual because they are afraid to go against their friends, who can be brutal. Maybe some room for a Bradley effect here.)
This is winnable but as usual we all wait with bated breath for the unaffiliated, undecided, uninterested to decide whether to go out in the rain and vote for one of them, or just order a pizza and call up the girlfriend.

I think the problem with getting Jewish voters in the US to see that the GOP is a better choice is two fold.
First, like most Americans, they live in a country that is so rich and secure that danger seems very far away. As a nation we are rich, fat, and self-satisfied. Secondly, modern Judaism has a long and noble history of supporting open handed, reformist, genuinely "liberal" causes like the civil rights movement. I consider modern liberalism to be a fraud. It is easy for good people to be suckered in by monsters who know how to spin and lie.
A large portion of the sincere, decent liberals left in the world are Jewish. Note Joe Lieberman. I would guess that a larger percentage of liberal Jews have seen the light- at least on some issues - than any other population that voted as far left 20 years ago.
This is worth a flyer. How do you get the money to their future company quickly? Somebody is going to clean up. I am going to a rally in 2 hours for our Repub House challenger. I will try to see if anyone has any info on internal polls. I am sure people in the GOP do not share them with anyone.
And Florida, and New Hampshire, and Nevada. He can win PA and OH and still lose. He really has to have an outstanding night to win.
Oh yeah it is meaningless. I think the fellow posted it because someone who has the guts to lay their money down on McCain now is going to make a fortune.
How true your post is! The same is definitely the case in L.A. as well. I almost choked when you wrote that the liberal Jews pay fortunes for their kids’ tacky bar Mitzvahs and don’t know anything about Judaism! We have been to some of these events, where the Torah reading is rushed through to get to the noisy, spectacular parties where bacon is served, cheese in the salad, and the poor old Holocaust-surviving Grandmas are crouched in a dark corner, cowed by the loud hip hop music.
Aargh!!!
For the record, you can also make safer bets on Florida, Ohio, Missouri, etc.
I still maintain that Obama doesn’t get any higher than 43% of the vote and that the extra 3 - 10% that the polls say he’s getting is completely absolutely wrong and is made up.
