"I'm afraid to say what I think would happen the next day"

Violence and unrest I can handle. It can be dealt with. Having socialists in full control of all 3 branches of the gov is far scarier. I mean that with complete sincerity.

After the buzz wears off these libs realize their paycheck just shrank and their employer is laying off people and raising the prices of the products they produce to absorb the higher taxes. They will ask "O Obama, how could thou forsake me?" They think spread the wealth means spread the rich people money, not theirs. and even if it WERE just the "rick" people money, they haven't absorbed the fact that it will not hurt nor hinder the rich, the rich will just past the cost down.

Let me say this outright. It is not possible to take taxes out of the profits of a company. Be it the company producing walmart plastic ware or the company refining the gasoline that goes into your commuter vehicle. They WILL pass along the cost. They will NOT accept a loss and continue production just for the fun of it. No profit, no product, no jobs, no nothing except for chinese imports.

How a liberal can ignore this simple, proven reality of economics is beyond my understanding. They will vote for Obama because they hate other people for being more successful than they. They think they are entitled to share the pleasures derived from the hard work of others.

But alas, time will correct this guidance error. Democrats will do serious damage in 4 years. Their masses will realize they are not as well off anymore and they will know a lot of people out of work just like 25-30 years ago. Obammy will have to explain why he has not delivered on his promises. He will have to explain why goods cost more, fuel costs more, etc... He will have to explain why people making less that 250K a year are taking home less and having to spend more on basics than before his grand plan was implemented. He will have to explain why the deadbeat down the road who hasn't kept a job in 15 years gets the same "rebate" check in the mail as his neighbor who busts his butt in a coal mine trying to feed his family. He will blame Bush somehow, blame the minority republican senate, Rush and Hanity. But next time, I don't think it will work. Remember.. "read my lips”? It will pale in comparison to what democrats will face 4 years from now.

When Fidel Castro was in the process of turning Cuba into a dictatorship some of the Catholic press and clergy were supporting him and many Catholics bought the whole story of forthcoming benevolent governance by this communist rebel. AVE MARIA, a popular Catholic magazine, was the bible for some of my Catholic family, democrats, and we pointed out the truth, as it inevitably turned out, of Castro’s intentions and communist background. I see Obama as being touted the same way, as a savior whose intentions justify the means of whatever it takes to get him elected. Pro abortion to the extreme, socialist, who even advocates a civilian security force for ambiguous purposes, etc. There is no changing the minds of Catholics who convolute their faith into support for the democrat party. They justify the voter fraud and whatever else the democrat party does which is at odds with Catholic teaching by denial or indifference. With the steady influx of converts to the Catholic faith I think that the core beliefs such as the right to life will again supersede political allegiance and social agendas.

“If Barack Obama does win this race, we can pray that the African American community will do the opposite of what many Jewish immigrants did with communism - reject the message rather than the messenger. In other words, it is understandable at this current place and time that so many are embracing Barack regardless of what he stands for - he’s one of “them.” But hopefully they’ll eventually realize that due to his radical beliefs, he’s not one of them at all, regardless of skin color”

As GOOD as the REST of your post was - and it was a remarkably thoughtful analysis - you fall flat on your face with this statement.

Do you really, really expect blacks - who voted for Obama for [mostly] one reason - are going to reject the notion that “he’s one of them” for precisely that SAME reason?

- John

Feeling good for the upwardly mobile black professional wearing an Obama button is sort of like feeling good for those well dressed brownshirts and SS Germans wearing their NAZI armbands as they were growing up in the late 30s.

They might appear very progressive and eager to get to work, but be very cautious of what they want to build.

No I don’t - I have hopes, not expectations - they’ve got decades of liberal indoctrination to shed. But that hope, no matter how far-fetched it is, is simply that they’ll eventually do what MLK asked of all of us - judge a man not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.

I pray McCain/Palin win, but if Obama wins, our prayers might be for another nation come to Him and subject the US leadership to either perform through faith in Him or be severely disciplined.

If Americans today think their adversity has been due to past slavery, I fear they are setting themselves up for a very real future slavery if they continue to reject Christ.

God has used the enemies of His people who turn away from Him to not only discipline, but in latter stages of degeneracy, conquer, split up and remove His people from their lands.

Those who are so quick to turn away from God and seek to build a godless America by attacking those who are faithful to Him, need beware the consequences of their behavior. God is not mocked.

If the consequences of democracy are to turn away from God, then it is likely such shall provide future testimony that democracy is not a righteous form of government and it will require a judgment in the face of a righteous God.

African American community will do the opposite of what many Jewish immigrants did with communism - reject the message rather than the messenger. In other words, it is understandable at this current place and time that so many are embracing Barack regardless of what he stands for - he's one of "them." But hopefully they'll eventually realize that due to his radical beliefs, he's not one of them at all, regardless of skin color.

There is zero precedent, zero evidence, zero everything that this could happen  -  and this is what you are pinning your hope upon?  Why sullie an otherwise great post with this garbage?  In contrast, there are oodles of evidence to the contrary, that they will even become more extreme.  Look at the mess that is Africa.  Behold the lovely garden state of South Africa, where rape and murder have become spectator sports.

I'm not trying to pick on you, but am being harsh because I've read your posts, and I know (IMHO) you are very close to the Truth --  the ultimate foundation for Conservatism, and the place to begin if we are ever to get it off the ground again.

Truth has never been so unstylish, but it always makes a comeback!

I would agree - there’s very little chance that this will happen. But you really think a little hope in the “impossible” sullies my post? :)

Africa is an overwhelming tragedy. One of the most sobering books I have ever read is “Out of America: A Black Man Confronts Africa” by Keith B. Richburg, in which he chronicles the hopelessness almost all African nations have created for themselves.

However, I say “very little chance” rather than your “zero chance” based on two things.

First of all, these men and women live in America, the freest nation on earth, which currently isn’t under the same majority influence (although we’re creeping towards it) of Marxist and Islamist cultural sinkholes to which Africa has been subject for decades/centuries. America is the embodiment of hope, and within her, everyone, regardless of color, has the opportunity to reflect that. That may sound unduly idealistic (which is ironic, because I’m one of the most cynical people I know), but I have to maintain belief in America’s magnificent potential.

Second, I ultimately pin my hopes on God, and know that He can do anything - if He wants to turn America around, He can most certainly do it, and that includes our black community and our interracial relations.

That said, however, I rather think God will allow us to learn from our own mistakes, and if such radical change ever does happen, you can count me as surprised as everyone else.

But then I don't get some of my fellow females being excited over Hillie's candidacy just because she's a woman, either.

How come nobody was excited over Sarah Palin getting the VP nomination just because she's a woman?

I entirely agree, and understand your post. Thank you for not jumping on me — after posting, I read what I wrote, and it looked kind of harsh. It was meant with the very best of intentions, and my wife likes to remind me of how undiplomatic I can be...

That said, thank you for the thoughtful reply, and am pleased that my original estimation of you embodying the best of conservatisms, was correct.

FRegards, Mike

Thank you for the kind words! And your post wasn’t all that harsh - I’ve read worse, and I’m sure you have too. Besides, thick skin is a posting requirement. :)

I just very much appreciate the exchange.
