State Sen. Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) was briefly detained Saturday outside the Zeidler Municipal Building and "advised about the laws surrounding electioneering," a police spokesman said.
The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. as early voting was taking place inside the building.
"A Milwaukee police officer who was working the mounted patrol monitoring traffic in the area of the Municipal Building at Kilbourn and Broadway observed a person who was clad in political attire who was engaged in conversation with people in line for early voting. He called for another officer to respond," Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said.
Schwartz said Taylor was not arrested but was "ordered into the district attorney's office for a review of the incident" this week.
Martha Love, chairman of the Milwaukee County Democratic Party, said Taylor "was not cited, was not arrested and is not taking calls at this time."
Love said Taylor wore a T-shirt that said "Blue State '08" and was assisting a female voter when an officer "stopped her" and "indicated that he felt she was doing something wrong." Love said Taylor had helped park the woman's car.
"The only thing she was doing was talking to a lady on her way into the building," Love said.
Taylor, 42, was first elected to the state Senate in 2004 and is unopposed for re-election this year. Republican Scott Walker defeated her last spring in the race for Milwaukee County executive.
Didn’t take them long to pull that! Gone already!
“Why isnt she being arrested, or soemthing?
We keep winking at this stuff.”

What’s good about this situation:
We were probably going to lose anyway so flushing out the fraudulent activities picture is pretty good.
What’s bad about this situation:
With ‘Rats leading Congress and the White House, there will be no interest or leadership to fix the fraud. Acorn and even more fraudulent activities will be around in 2010 when (a) Obama will allow GWB’s tax cuts to expire [a net tax increase under the Messiah’s watch] and (b) the nation should be totally PO’d about the tax and spend ‘Rats and want the Pubbies to have the Congress back.
That picture is heavily Photoshopped and really badly at that.
Once she starts talking, believe me, the appeal will wear off.
the moron is this picture is wearing a blue button with two yellow bars.
can anyone tell me what this stands for? I see this on bumper decals, but I do not know what it is for.
BTW I was there about 45 minutes after this incident. it seemed like there were quite a few cops around...
TIA
I’m working as a poll watcher Tuesday.
Here in Alabama, the law allows for electioneering as long as you are at least 30 feet from the door (outer door) of the polling place.
Any closer than 30 feet, they get warned. The state GOP has attorneys working every county, and the watchers can call them if needed.
thanks Mojave. for a second, I thought you were sending me to a Hillary website.
at least it looks better than those rainbow things.
appreciate the tip.
I was told that the Milwaukee police union has endorsed McCain...pretty cool. My McCain sign was stloen the other day and I had had enough of this crap so I called it in as a theft to the police. The officer taking the report over the phone was actually very sympathetic and told me I was right to report the theft even though it was only a sign.
I promise I did not see your post. lol
Great minds think alike!!!
:)
“was she trying to talk them into voting for the Obomination? ;)”
More likely she was trying to get them to sign a waiver so she could enter the voting booth with them and pull the lever in their place. The waiver would make it all legal don’t ya know?
Law and Order is required for Republicans. Democrats only write Laws.
