I'll miss having a couple in the White House who seem to love each other. I don't get a bad vibe off the McCains, but they seem kind of like Bush Sr. and Barbara, two horses well matched to harness, who perhaps find each other's company agreeable... but I have always felt like George W. Bush LOVES his wife.

As for the Clintons and Obamas, really, what can be said? Strident women who both seem to consider their men "the horse they rode in on."

Bush was a mediocre President. I had high hopes for him but he didn’t live up to them. No fiscal discipline, signing CFR, he and Teddy’s shamnesty, NCLB, and a lot of ineptitude. Of course if Obama was elected it’ll make Bush look like Lincoln, Washington, and RWR combined.

i’ve been frustrated that he and his administration, and the gop, do not stand up to democrat media attacks

I agree! one of the worst mistakes he has made is that he never defends himself in any substantial way. the left and the media (one inthe same) keep spouting lie after lie and soon people just believe it.

bush lied people died

no blood for oil

the last 8 years have been an economic nightmare

we've lost all our civil liberties

the constitutions has been trampled

and on and on There are so many good sound replies to all this crap, but Bush and his team never explain themselves. They have the worst PR onthe planet.

I’ve searched - but cannot find - a recent article that talks about “the last eight years of Bush” while explaining all the good things that were done in the first six years - before Democrats took control of Congress. Can someone point me in the direction of that article? I heard someone reading it on a talk show and didn’t get the author or publication. Thanks.

thanks.

also, it makes it difficult for the next republican, here mccain, to run for office.

a lot of mccain-palin’s efforts have been dealing with the msm’s evil depiction of the bush admin.

Up side Hussein, President Bush looks like a jewel. I appreciate him and Laura. He’s really had it hard these years. Under Hussein, WE are the ones who will be rode hard and put up wet.

Oh where is that cartoon of ‘W’ branding the ‘Donkey’?

It had a caption like ‘W in 2004’ or something. (Not sure of the year)

I know I am a newbie and not supposed to go against the grain of FR.
However, President Bush is GREAT. Simply Great!

I agree. It is a sad commentary on FR that a newbie thinks liking President Bush is against the grain of FR.

In regard to immigration, he has actually done more than most think. Do some research using foreign news sources if you want to get to the truth. The Enemedia in the USA will never allow the truth about this President to be seen by the masses.

Welcome to FreeRepublic. Hope you enjoy your stay.

The Op-Ed editors asked six writers to reflect on what they have most admired about him.

In an effort to seem fair and balanced the Op-Ed staff permitted ONE of the six to actually like President Bush.

— ROBERT DRAPER, a correspondent for GQ and the author of “Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush”
— ARI FLEISCHER, the White House press secretary from 2001 to 2003
— CURTIS SITTENFELD, the author of the novel “American Wife”
[I didn't know Laura was RAT prior to marrying W]
— JACOB WEISBERG, the editor in chief of the Slate Group and the author of “The Bush Tragedy”
[just what you would expect…not worth the read]
— SCOTT McCLELLAN, White House press secretary from 2003 to 2006
[absolutely no comment on this little thumb sucking puke]
— PAUL BURKA, the senior executive editor of Texas Monthly
[lover of centrists]

Ari's was the only piece worth reading, although he could not refrain from getting in at least one enemedia talking point. Disappointing, as I thought Ari was the best WHPS, until Dana! The best part of his piece:

Shortly after 9/11, the president gave a speech in which he talked about the fight between good and evil, and that good would win. Afterward, I told him I thought he was being simplistic: “There are a lot of shades of gray in this war. I think it’s more nuanced.”
He looked at me and said,
“If this isn’t good versus evil, what is?”

The best thing President Bush could have done was to NOT listen to anyone and do what he knew in his gut was right!
I'm sure going to miss him!

THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!

I think history will judge George W. Bush kindly. He and his administration made an awful lot of mistakes in the Middle East, but his effort to pull the fangs of Islamofascism before they could sink them into the U.S. was well worth the undertaking.

There is only one way to never make a mistake .....

Never attempt to do anything!

Frankly I'm tired of hearing about all the "alleged" mistakes President Bush has made.
The only "mistakes" I've seen people try to point out were easily debunked. They also fell into the realm of; a mistake in one man's eyes, is a success in another's.
