No, you don’t get it. Yes, it’s anti-capitalist, but what he’s saying is “I’ll put you poor, poor soldiers ahead of the evil and greedy CEOs Dubya’s been kissing up to for eight years.” He’s not going to put th military itself ahead of the CEOs, but the soldiers individually.
And the reason he says it is so civilians who know nothing about the way Dubya has treated the military will swoon and think of Barack taking a bag of money from a robber baron and giving it to a slobberingly grateful G.I. Joe.
