My friends, it's John McCain, live from New York, just three days before the election. Aides to the Republican presidential candidate said Friday that McCain will make a detour from battleground states to appear on "Saturday Night Live," the late-night show that has been a must-watch for many during the political season.
Hosting the show this Saturday is actor Ben Affleck, a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. The musical guest is singer David Cook.

Actually, it was a wise decision. Obama is not a good actor and can’t do humor to save his soul. Did you see his performance at the Al Smith dinner? All of his punchlines fell flat. He doesn’t have good timing.
I’ve heard that, too.
Seriouslly, a thin skin plus power is a bad, bad combination.
Then there is the 401k thing going on right now, does he know about how this is going to work? The dems are getting ready to force us to put an additional 5% of income into SS to be administered by SS and pay us 3% ROV, which is less than long-term inflation, stock market average is 7.6%..and worse, when you die the government keeps 50% of your retirement fund instead of you leaving it to your spouse a 100%... there is much, much more, I'm just getting warmed up...
If Obama were an actor, he would be the straightest of straight men.

At least half of Congress comes to mind.
As well as characters like Hitler.
Hey back! And you’re welcome...
Your artwork always makes me feel peaceful and content. that’s a good thing. :-)
Sure, I can see where you are coming from in some ways I wouldn’t like my boss making fun of me on some show either. However, if it was done in good taste I wouldn’t mind, a little roasting here and there would be fine.
I still think Sarah would find it funny as well. I didn’t see the skit as bad as you say it was. And I am sure Sarah would have approved of it first.
Yep, the Redstate article from the so-called campaign worker said they were totally taken in by Palin, they were ready for everyone else...and planned to do a Quayle on Pawlenty... and were disappointed.
Well, there is his complete lack of comedic timing? You’re absolutely right there. So yes, good for him campaign. If he had a shred of humor, it would have been a bad idea.
I did see him at the Al Smith dinner. Even Al Gore was funnier.
Obama’s best line that night was as funny as McCain’s worst.
Stiff! is how he was last year.
Okay it’s on here now... this is very funny; sorry this is funny and Fey/Palin is great.
Agreed. Thin-skinned people in power are constantly on the defense. Bad, bad, bad.
Just saw Joe the Bummer on H&C tonight in a tape clip ... he looks exactly like Capt. Kirk in that Star Trek episode when he got plastic surgery to pass as a Romulan.
I work for an Orthodontist, and I know he is worried about his practice if Obama gets elected. He may have to cut jobs, or raise prices on braces. Raising prices on the braces would probably not be a wise business choice when times are tough, so jobs will probably go first.
Yeppers, it certainly is.
Did you see the FBI is investigating Wexler for money laundering?
McCain's presence seemed to give the seal of approval to jabs at Palin that... well, furrow the brow.
Palin's appearances a few weeks ago were pretty funny. And the difference in vibe between this one and those from before reminded me of the year that Stephen Colbert appeared at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Some people remember Colbert's monologue, and the jabs it took at both the administration and the press before him. But that year he was preceded by President Bush, appearing with the guy who impersonates Bush on the Tonight Show. And so they did a routine where the fake Bush blurted out comments that the real Bush couldn't say.
Fake Bush: "Where's the great white hunter?" Real Bush: "I regret that Vice President Cheney couldn't be here tonight."
When someone makes fun of himself, everyone can laugh easily. When someone makes fun of someone else, there's always that question that hangs in the air - did they go too far? (Of course, there are few things more pathetic than watching someone respond to a self-deprecating joke with an insult.)
It was very funny. Since she met Sarah in person she has toned it down some and actually has a few more Sarah mannerisms... it looked like McCain was fighting to keep a straight face there for a minute and the Cindy McCain, Fine Gold part was very funny.
