In his missive, Schumer asserted that the deterioration of IndyMac's financial position posed a risk to its investors and customer base. Publicity about the exchange resulted in an eleven-day run on the bank during which time $1.3 billion were withdrawn. IndyMac's failure along with Schumer's actions undoubtedly contributed to the $16 billion run on Washington Mutual in early September. In turn, WaMu's catastrophic failure contributed to the quick demise of Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.

It is possible Schumer’s remarks started this massive failure. But then again, he is a tax and spend democrat, so he has no credibility

In any just and civilized country Schumer would have been keelhauled beneath the hull of an aircraft carrier under way.

Been saying for 2 months that “Schumer lit the fuse” - to burn it all down under Bushs’ watch - nothing is beneath or beyond them.

Dems will betray a war. Tanking the economy is not beyond them either.

Something about the “crisis” smelled from day one. Sure, the Fannie/Freddie fiasco had been building for a while but why should suddenly one day the entire mess blow up causing everyone to freak for two weeks. No, we’re not back to normal and won’t be for a long time but news of the crisis that was supposed to be worse than the Great Depression is now soooo last week. Yes, something is very fishy.

The libs have been working on this for the last two years...they have said the economy was bad long before is was. Add some global warming while refusing to drill, sprinkle with some MSM and you get a power grab.

I keep thinking of Shumer and his deliberate triggering of the run on IndyMac.

Two thoughts . .

1) the NY Post and WSJ are growing impressive sets of cojones. They are getting vocal, really vocal in the last few weeks over Obama.

2) there needs to be an independent investigation of Fannie/Freddie, Bwaney Fwank, Dodd and Wall Street. Probably a few others too. And a prosecutor. Some folks NEED to go to jail.

Anyone who believes that this “financial crisis” was not part of Kampfgruppe Obama’s campaign tactics has to be a total idiot. IMHO.

Yes, Schumer fits the profile. He the Dems choice for Chair of their Senate (Re)election Committee. Just making his letter public should be grounds for jail time. Even healthy banks can’t endure a ‘run’ these days, if ever they could. Doubtless Schumer had a lot of help, too, and encouragement from his ilk.

My wife has been saying since Day 1 the “economic crisis” was staged to be B. Hussein’s “October Surprise.”

I said 6 months ago that the dems needed the economy in the tank by the election “Mark my words”. Best gird our loins.

It all occurred as a cover for the Dem congress critters who could not risk a new president digging into records.
