Boo! Who? Supporting Obama? No treats for you

A Grosse Pointe Farms woman has doled out political tricks by refusing Halloween treats to children whose parents support Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Shirley Nagel passed out candy Friday — but only to those who shared her support for Republican presidential candidate John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin.

Fox 2 News says a sign posted outside Nagel's house, about 12 miles west of Detroit, served notice to all trick-or-treaters. It read: "No handouts for Obama supporters, liars, tricksters or kids of supporters."

Nagel tells WJBK-TV that "Obama's scary." When asked about children who'd been turned away empty-handed and crying, she said: "Oh well. Everybody has a choice."

Fax and phone messages were left today at numbers listed in Nagel's name.

I’m not convinced Shirley is a McCain/Palin supporter. I smell another “B carved into my face” scam.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Was her house the only one in the neighborhood?

Several businesses in my area have made their support of Obama known. I will never buy anything from them again.

She did the wrong thing.

She should have asked which children’s parents were voting for Obama, showed them the candy she was going to give to them, and then redistribute it to the other children. “See, kids? Hope and Change! Wheee!”

this just gives republicans a bad name. I think it’s awful that this woman hurt a childs feelings and it will backfire on her.

I detest people who soil the innocence of childhood with politics. Shame on her.

At least the lady is still allowed her decision - that may change very soon.

Still, I would never punish or exclude a child from a traditional treat because of what his or her parents.

Children are innocents - as is Trig Palen.

"maybe a little extreme, but kinda funny."
It's not funny nor extreme. It's the attitude and behavior every patriot in America should display.

Libs should be made to suffer omnipresent stress.

We live too rural so no kiddies trick or treating BUT just for fun we set out a table with fun decoration and adorned the fence behind it (where our Sarah! 4x8 ft banner is) with purple blinking bats put some candy from our survival stash in a bowl and tossed in Sarah stickers.

Hah the only time I WISHED we had trick or treaters.

One kid came by dressed as Obama at my house. I almost reached my hand in his bag and took some candy to give to the other kids, but I figured he was just a kid and wouldn’t get it. It would also be mean, but I sure thought about it!

So do I.

Someone should make a trip past the lady's house tomorrow. I'll bet it has an Obama-Biden sign in front.

I dont agree with you.

We have so many closet conservatives small business owners in our area because they dont want the libs to boycott them.
