I won’t buy anything but Toyota’s anymore. I bought a used 2004 Toyota Highlander an year and a half ago, and haven’t had any repair expense — zip zero nada. It drives, sounds and looks like a new car at 60,000 miles now. I finally got sick of paying for repairs, and also the unreliability of that. I have friends who have driven their Toyotas 200,000+ miles with excellent reliability.

I've had excellent luck with mine. I do tend to baby it- I am a complete sucker for maintenance 'recommendations'. I took it in again today and had them do pretty much whatever they wanted me to do- but I balked at replacing the radiator cap 'because the rubber seal might be getting old and brittle'. I mean, fine-show me. I am at around 110K on a 98 Tacoma extended cab, and it runs like a champ. There are a couple of little things wrong with it- but I am probably going to be driving it for a good long while yet.

I just wish the heater was a bit stronger for when the snow and ice comes. Mine is suffering a bit for its age, or something.

You got a lot of life left in that Tacoma. A friend of mine drove his Toy pickup 185K before he sold it, but it was still running great.

Minor maintenance I do on my cars myself — saves a lot of money. If it gets to be significant, then I take it to a repair shop I trust, which does not include dealerships. I hate dealerships & don’t trust them — never take my cars to them. Just me, I guess.
