If we do have another civil war, it won't be regional based like the first one; so allowing secession would have no relieving value. The next civil war will be values based (traditional God-fearing Americans vs the Godless Leftists). A future civil war would be chaotic and literally neighbor against neighbor.

Depending on the sparking issues, the US military could go either way, but probably would splinter like the last time.

Geographically, traditional-minded Americans have the advantage by dominating the countryside; the liberal urban areas would be choked off from most of their needs.

Secession would have to be an organized and orderly affair. Everyone would have to agree to it.

It probably won’t happen. If it did the liberal side would resort to cannibalism within a month and so they must continue to live like parasites on the responsible and productive people.
