We went to the gun shop in our nearest city yesterday.

My husband and I signed up for conceal and carry classes. They are at 3 pm this afternoon.

The salesman is recommending a revolver since I want something that will not need a lot practiced training. I wouldn’t want to be flustered if I needed to use it in an emergency.

I have absolutely no experience with firearms.

Revolvers are the original point and click device. A double-action only pistol, such as my Smith & Wesson MP9c, is as well. It has an safety integrated into the trigger.

You may want to see about shooting a round or two before you buy to make sure the recoil is tolerable to you. You should practice with it enough to be able to put lead where you want it. Tolerable recoil will make that more enjoyable.

For concealed carry I recommend a shrouded hammer on a revolver. It looks like hell IMO, but it won't catch on your purse or clothing as you pull it out. I have a five round .357 that I carry in the small of my back in the summer time. When I have more clothing on, I carry my P89 Ruger 9mm, which is much bigger, but I just like it a lot more.

A revolver is a very basic and very reliable firearm. One can never go wrong with a revolver. All you need is one well-placed shot from a .357 magnum to the chest and the bad guy is done for the day (and likely done forever).
