...it is a great learning tool and worth the $70 bucks to replace the pre-hung door and jam.Couldn't you defeat it with a yardstick shoved under the door?

Depends on several factors. I sleep nicely with one on my door. Defeating the bar would make more noise and take longer than a perp would get once I wake up. And you assume the pepr would know what is impeding the opening of the door and patiently go find a yardstick/ As to the kids using it to keep a parent out, well even defeating it with a yardstick would teach a lesson don’tchaknow. [Drilling a small hole int he floor through which a 3” screw is inserted to hold the bar in place makes a yardstick just ridiculous.

correct me if I am wrong. can the AR15 be converted to full auto? Don't want to rain on your parade but discussion of this can be (and has been) interpreted as conspiracy to violate federal firearms laws regarding automatic weapons.
Then they attempt to asset forfeit everything (possibly including the discussion server).
This is not the place to talk about such things.

I’m very sorry. It was just a curious question.

Im very sorry. It was just a curious question. No worries. in the meantime, enjoy the heck out of semi-auto.
Automatic is for human waves. Semi-auto wins battles.

I meant mostly to defeat the kids. But that’s a two way street. If they don’t have a kitchen and bathroom, you win by attrition. I’ve always had dogs...don’t need anything else...and I’d sure hate to get up in the middle of the night and step on that 3” screw.

I bought my AR15 after Katrina when I saw what you could expect when the police could not respond. I have accumalated 3,000 rds of ammo since then and spent plenty of time at the range so I’m ready for any thugs who want to come thru my front door.

Thanks for this post, Wpin. I brought home my new AR-15 a couple of days ago. I can relate to what you wrote. But I am SO glad to have taken the step in buying one...as it is a tool that can help able me and mine to take any necessary steps in standing ground and standing up. I got right to work in the "practice makes perfect" department, and I will not hesitate to put this powerful piece of machinery to work if absolutely need be.
Again, thanks for the post. I share your mixed sentiments....
