Nah, Nancy’s dad and her brother, “Red Tommy” D’Alessandro didn’t have mob connections. The mob pretty much stayed out of Baltimore as there was no real profit opportunity there. The Greeks and Irish had the alcohol market tied up during prohibition and the enclave of Little Italy in SE Baltimore was relatively isolated compared to the Irish influence all over the city.
What the D’Alessandro family did have were ties to the Stonewall Democratic Club in South Baltimore which was, (and in some ways still is) the machine for who does what in Baltimore City.
