Republican John McCain's bid to become the next president of the United States has won the support of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.
The guitarist told the Boston Herald that he thought Mr McCain was better suited to solving threats to America's national security and its economic problems than rival Barack Obama.
He also said he believed Mr McCain could still overhaul Mr Obama's lead in the polls.
Im an optimist. It aint over till its over. I think that hes got a chance, he said.
Perry's endorsement has come as a surprise, and goes against Aerosmith's usually non-political stance.

Did you forget Nuge?
Don't forget Ted Nugent. Also, Amy Lee said something in an interview about how she hates politics but for her it was obvious when you had one that has sacrificed so much in the service country (paraphrased).
You forgot our man Ted Nugent !
one heck of an American !
Joe Perry is one of my all time favorites, as is Steven Tyler. Rock the Vote Joe!
Looks like the Train Keeps A'Rollin' for the Straight Talk Express
Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent playing McCain inauguration party? I could quite dig that eclectic combination.
Could you point me in the direction of that Amy Lee blurb? Thanks.
How desperate for celebrity kudos are we when we get excited because an Aerosmith guitarist says, “yes”, to McCain.
Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson and current members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston support McCain and Palin.
Train kept’a Rollin, all night long.
Good job, Joe. Not bad for an aging hippie from New Hampshire.
It was in Spin.. I’ll find it for you.. it was almost a side comment before they talked about her Nightmare Before Christmas music..
Who is the chick?
aaah ah! n’aaah ah! Dude like McCain-Palin!
aaah ah! n’aaah ah! Dude likes McCain-Palin!

I've mentioned before that if I had to pick my favorite band of all time, it would most likely be The Ramones. Johnny Ramone's band changed the rules for rock music from 1974 through the late 90's. Their music ignited the punk-rock movement and their style was ground-breaking, as was their loud, fast-paced music. We might not have the "Guitar Hero" sensation of today were it not for The Ramones. Last year, I did a post on a particular song we selected of theirs that was featured on the site. So, you can imagine how thrilling it was to be able to spend time with a living legend in the history of rock music. Linda was so helpful and the volunteers were so excited to meet her. Thank you so much for coming out and getting involved, I know how much everyone appreciates it!
Song of the Day: "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones
Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Nuge, Hank Jr., Gretchen Wilson, John Rich...
Sounds like a hell of a party...I’m in.
