Larry Goode column: It's not easy being an anti-abortion Democrat in October, November

The week before the election is a very hard one for an anti-abortion Democrat.

Could it be a coincidence that Halloween — the evening of All Saints' Day — is this Friday?

Those who seek happiness in treats will threaten us with tricks if we don't give them what they ask for.

Until the elections are over, it's going to be pandemonium, and all the demons will come out. I'll be happy when it is over.

My big issues in this election are Proposition 4, which would allow parents to know when their minor daughter is thinking of having an abortion, and Proposition 8, which states that marriage is only between a man and a woman.

In regard to abortion, Democrats talked four years ago about softening their position and being more conciliatory toward anti-abortion Democrats. But, if anything, they are now even more in favor of abortion rights.

I get the feeling that abortion is being shoved down our throats whether we like it or not.

What makes me upset about Proposition 8 is that 60 percent of California voters decided in 2000 that marriage could only be between a man and a woman.

Now, the only reason we are doing this over again is because four judges decided May 15 that the measure is unconstitutional.

I was living in San Francisco in 2000, and it was not easy to be in favor of traditional marriage. I'm upset not just for myself but for the people who went out on a limb for marriage between a man and a woman in San Francisco at that time.

Let me ask the Rev a few questions:

If you are anti abortion and find it difficult, can you understand that Obama wants to kill chilren if they survive the abortion? Are you by any chance anti-infanticide? Does that help?

I suggest that you look at your church’s finances to see what effect Obama’s tax policies would have on your net revenues. Doesn’t take a whole of work, by the way.
Does that help?

The good reverend needs to realize that Jesus tossed his day’s democrats out of the temple.
