The president of a pro-family organization in Massachusetts says public schools in the Bay State have been negatively influenced by homosexual marriage.

Mass Resistance president Brian Camenker says that immediately after Massachusetts courts made homosexual marriage legal in his state, many schools had assemblies celebrating the decision. Those assemblies featured pro-homosexual speakers, teachers who announced that they would "marry" their same-sex partners, and homosexuals who announced they would pursue adoption.

Camenker points out the homosexual agenda was even promoted in middle schools and elementary schools. "David Parker was the parent of a kindergartner in Lexington, where they were telling the kids about same-sex families being normal just like their mother and father," he explains. "And they had gotten to the point, even by 2005, where they considered this so important to tell kids that they refused to allow parents to opt their own kids out of that propaganda and wouldn't even tell them when it happened."

Parker sued the school system, but Camenker says the judges ruled that, because homosexual marriage was legal in that state, parents had no right to opt out and also said that the schools were promoting good citizenship. (See related story) Camenker warns that public schools have become a major target of the homosexual agenda, and that the passage of homosexual marriage in other states will only embolden the movement.

Just because it happens in some towns does not mean that it is happening in all towns. Some of us actually try to educate our kids.

That remark is so laughable. I am neither a teacher or government worker. I am so “joe the...” it is scary. Since I own my own business, I actually spend time understanding what is going on the schools. I’ve gotten into discussions about the stupid things the teachers say and do (Hiroshima was bad, Reagan was bad, etc) and I’ve actually helped get the conversation changed a little bit. Not a lot.

I am not disputing that there is a gay agenda in some towns. I am saying that in my town, in my school, that is not a big deal.

Its statements like yours that sometimes makes me cringe at the closed mindedness of FR. You should be ashamed.

I am not missing the point. If you are involved with your school—and encourage other parents to see and understand what is going on—you can nip it in the bud.

If the parents are more concerned with making sure the children graduate from high school prepared to move onto a trade or college than they are with “diversity” the schools will follow through with that. Fortunately in MA the towns and cities are more directly responsible for the curriculum. If the parents are involved, and focused, this crap doesnt happen.

The answer is not to complain here, or to your state rep. It is to go to your school and see what is going on.

I cannot speak to what happened to him in his school. I can attest to the fact that any of the number of times I’ve been in a school and expressed disagreement with a policy, or part of a curriculum the response from teachers and administrators has been respectful.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree.
