Found in a rundown Boston estate: Barack Obama’s aunt Zeituni Onyango (Poor Aunt Zeituni)

Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.

A second relative believed to be the long-lost “Uncle Omar” described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a “sawed-off rifle” while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom flat for failing to pay $2,324.20 (£1,488) arrears, according to the Boston Housing Court.

Aunt Zeituni and Uncle Omar are the children of Mr Obama’s grandfather Hussein Onyango Obama, by his third wife – the woman Mr Obama calls “Granny” because she raised his father. Mr Obama’s father, Barack Sr, was Onyango Obama’s son by his second wife, Akumu. That makes Zeituni and Omar a half-sister and half-brother of Mr Obama’s father, or Mr Obama’s half-aunt and half-uncle.

You know would be interesting, if a bunch of Conservatives freely did something for this poor woman.. that would really show up Obama and make a point about his policies.. he won’t even help his own family but expects the government to take care of everyone.. Conservatives, on the other hand, doesn’t expect the government to help, but we are willing to help even the unwilling Obama’s family.

Obama recounts an important conversation he had in Africa with his aunt Zeituni.

“Zeituni stopped walking and turned to me,” Obama wrote in his autobiography. “’After your father went off to live with his American wife, Ruth...well, he would go to Kezia sometimes. You must understand that traditionally she was still his wife. It was during such a visit that Kezia became pregnant with Abo, the brother you haven’t met. The thing was, Kezia also lived with another man briefly during this time. So when she became pregnant again, with Bernard, no one was sure who — ‘ Zeituni stopped, letting the thought finish itself.”

It is difficult to watch, but on point. One of the first issues Dr Manning discusses is why we never see any of Obama’s family accompanying him. If he were your relative, wouldn’t you move heaven and earth to be at one of his events? DNC Convention? Stump speech? On the air with one of the news programs proudly telling the world about your relative? What is wrong here?

It is more than just Obama’s relatives not being at his campaign events, he doesn’t seem to have any friends from the past to get on the stump with him either.

Come to think of it, most of the time Obama campaigns he is alone on the platform.
