Where would one find these ANSI(not ASCII?) codes?

The ASCII + ANSI codes are available on Windows XP under Accessories > System Tools > Character Map
Choose a standard font, like Courier New, find the symbol you want, click on it and look in the lower right corner (status bar). There you'll find the keystroke. You can also copy/paste. I do the keystroke thing because I'm a tech writer and know these things all too well.
