Win or Lose, Many See Palin as Future of the Party (Reagan Liason Wants to Meet w/Sarah)

"She is dynamite,” said Morton C. Blackwell, who was President Ronald Reagan’s liaison to the conservative movement. Mr. Blackwell described vying to get close to Ms. Palin at a fund-raiser in Virginia, lamenting that he could get only within four feet.

“I made a major effort to position myself at this reception,” he said, adding that he is eager to sit down with her after the election to discuss the future. Asked if the weeks of interviews had tarnished her among conservatives, he replied, “Not a bit.”

Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, a conservative group, called it a “top order of business” to determine Ms. Palin’s future role.

“Conservatives have been looking for leadership, and she has proven that she can electrify the grass roots like few people have in the last 20 years,” Mr. Bozell said. “No matter what she decides to do, there will be a mother lode of financial support behind her.”

The presidential campaign has allowed Ms. Palin to develop as a candidate, and to make many useful connections as she travels the country. On the campaign, she has become close to people with extensive experience in Republican politics, including Steve Biegun and Randy Scheunemann, two foreign policy conservatives.

She has received extensive policy tutorials and been briefed on foreign policy. Aides say she has taken particular interest in Pakistan and Israel and in causes of Islamic extremism, which she has related to the economic despair that plagues parts of Alaska.

People loyal to her say Ms. Palin is well aware of the political job in front of her. One aide said she had “gotten on the offensive,” pushing to include more policy in speeches. “It’s important for her personally, for how she’s perceived, to ensure that she gets to show her depth.”

Yep, traitors one and all. They can enjoy their few minutes of glory with the Dems because no one trusts a traitor. Once the Dems have used them for this election, they’ll be tossed aside.

There are a few here on FR who I expect secretly want to see The One in power as well, but are too smart to admit it.

I read the rest of the article , one pundit said she is wildly unpopular among moderates and indies. Is this fool saying those two groups are democrats ? Sounds like a childish response to me . She is wildly popular with women from all backgrounds and many men. I love to hear from the losers on the sideline.

Win or lose Sarah is still the best Governor in these United States. I'm sure the majority of Alaskans want to keep her right where she is. Real people don't come along that often in politics. If we were lucky enough to have her as Governor here in Texas we wouldn't let her get anywhere near DC. She's a straight talking, straight shooting National Treasure. JMHO.

The best thing Sarah could do in 2009 and 2010, is help identify congressional, senate, and governor candidates who were solid conservatives, and help them along in the primaries and in their rallies heading up to the election.

The way to get rid of RINOs is in the primaries.

She's been attacked non stop by the dying MSM. They lose more of their persuasiveness every election cycle now. She's got an %80 percent approval rating from the only real constituents that have seen her in action. If given the chance, and the so-called moderates are in fact moderate, her numbers will improve greatly by the next general election IMO.

I would like to ask for Dowd’s resignation from the party. he can join the other weasels that have destroyed the Republican party with their insistence on pursuing policies that went against the conservative, Republican and yes American best interests.

No matter how much the NYT wishes, Sarah’s prospects in Alaska aren’t to be diminished either.

But that’s a discussion to be had next week if McCain loses and we don’t know which way it’ll go yet.

What I do know is that ‘12 she’s my pick and the elites and liberals within the party can hit the pavement. They had their choice this cycle, they don’t get a vote the next one.
