JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi's voter situation is hard to believe. Places like Madison County have over 123% more registered voters than people over the age of 18.
Sue Sautermeister, First District Election Commissioner in Madison County, tried to purge the rolls, but ran into trouble when it was discovered it takes a vote of three of the five election commissioners and the purge cannot take place within 90 days of a federal election.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is the first to admit the situation with voter registration in this state is terrible.
"It is terrible," he says. "Combined with the fact that we don't have voter ID in Mississippi, anybody can show up at any poll that happens to know the people who have left town or died -- and go vote for them."
"Whenever we have a third party determined by payment, for example, as they did in Benton County -- 'walking-around' money -- and they determine what that vote is going to be, they've taken your vote, whether they may have voted like you would have or not, they've still thwarted the process and they've still have taken your vote away from you," added Hosemann.
Sue Sautermeister is working hard in the First District of Madison County to start a purging of the voter rolls as soon after the election as possible. She has file drawers full of names of people who haven't voted in years and are known to be dead.
"We have people who registered in 1965 who have never voted," she says. "We have 486 people (registered who are) over 105."
Hosemann says 190,000 new voters have registered for this election and he believes the turnout will be historic.
Officials should make it known that they have “flagged” dead and non-existent voters on the list and anyone attempting to vote with those flagged names will be cuffed and booked on the spot.
Missippy Ping.
We should all be screaming from the rooftops about this!!
I couldn’t take the time to make it through all the babble.
But it is nice to think it would take a “tsunami” for Zero to win. That ain’t happening.
Twenty years ago I saw Alcorn county locals shopping around ballot boxes in local races. They sold them to the highest bidder. The dishonesty is not as blatant but still here...Had I reported the infraction years ago I would have been a dead man. The local Democrats are the bottom of a rotten barrel that is rotten all the way to the top. McCoy is from the Southern part of the county which I have no vote and it is he that is fighting the voter ID issue so hard...why? The answer is what goes on at the local level with Democrats and permeates all the way to the top.
You might be encouraged to know that electoral corruption has been here from the time Aaron Burr rigged the elections in NYC with ineligible voters. It has never stopped in the 220 yrs since Burr conceived of the scheme to defeat the Hamiltonian federalists.
Watch “Gangs of New York” for an excellent demonstration of how it was done in the 1850-60s.
In Chicago the late nineteenth century politics was dominated by criminal gangs organized around the saloons and brothels. Criminal gangs continue to be used to round up the vote or suppress the vote as their leaders desire.
American politics has never been Mom, Pop and Jimmy STewart fair and free. We had decades of elections without a secret ballot. How would you like an election with the poll workers being gang members who would beat hell out of you if you voted against their candidate? Or be at a polling place when a rival gang arrived to break the place up as the police strolled away?
All is not lost. I have remarked elsewhere that there are almost no Zero signs in my Chicago neighborhood filled with city workers, teachers, cops, firemen and very few bumper stickers throughout the city. We may have a surprise coming.
Thanks, NerdDad!
Good grief!
This is outrageous!
Actually it has been even worse than I pictured it. During the early 1800s some states allowed non-citizens to vote. That was one of the issues which led to the destruction of the Whig party. Of course, the supporters of allowing immigrants right off the boat to vote were democrats. Whig opposition to such activities helped destroy the party in the early 1850s.Almost all the Reform movements which erupted in American politics were led by Republicans after the Democrat corruption became so outrageous that the people wouldn’t take it anymore. Like chasing flies off of shiite they just keep coming back.
I wonder if I’m still registered there. Better yet, I wonder if my father who’s been dead for 19 years is registered.
You and your daddy might still be registered.
Too bad it’s not PA, VA or OH. ;o)
I should send an email to Bert and ask him to check.
I could be registered in Virginia. I’ll have someone check. The folks at our previous precinct seemed to be vigilant about ensuring legitimate voters voted, so I bet they’ve purged the list. I don’t recall if I needed a picture ID for Virginia. I could still be registered in New Mexico, too!
Hard to imagine that people can register up to 29 days before an election, but fraudulent registrations can’t be purged. IF we survive next week, the entire election system in this country has to be looked at very seriously to provide for honest elections.
sorry i missed the party
i was having torn rotator cuff\ligament surgery
about that time
Ouch. Hope the surgery went well. 8-)
