I read the comments (used to live in Seattle).
What's going on in Belltown? Used to be a fun place to spend an evening.

There’s a great restaurant there called Cascadia; highly recommended.
We were told not to walk back to our hotel (the Marriott on the Sound not too far away, across from the northern cruise liner berths), that it was risky after dark.

I do my darndest to avoid downtown Seattle as much as I possibly can and so I don't know from personal experience, but I'm guessing particularly late at night it's extreme drug, gang, prostitution, and a variety of other criminal activity.
