Perhaps, as a good example to others contemplating posting vanity threads, you would like to ask the mod to remove your vanity?

You being someone who's only been posting for a couple of months and probably hasn't taken the time to read the freerepublic Posting Guidleines probably explains your "I don't see what the big deal is" attitude.
Let a "bully" help you out.

Do keep "vanity" posts to a minimum - Free Republic is primarily a place to discuss news, articles, and editorials. Vanity posts, creations of the poster him or herself, should meet a high standard of quality before one is even considered worthy of posting. Often a relevant current thread or general announcement, catch-all thread is a much better choice for a brief question or comment.
I was hoping this was a vanity leading to an Opus.
I’m disappointed and chagrined.
A good vanity is one that is posted by a person the day they sign up. The poster must use all caps and no paragraphs or punctuation except exclamation points. It also helps if the new poster is extremely drunk while composing the vanity. Finally, the vanity must be placed in breaking news.
Is it something people want to talk about. To me that’s the bottom line and seems to be the bottom line for the mods too.

I still get freepmail about it from time-to-time. Apparently it made a “hangover” website of some kind.
So does every author of his own bad vanity and therein lies the problem.
As long as a vanity is clearly marked in the title, I can skip past them quickly if I choose. I get quite irritated, however, when the vain one tries to slip one past the readers and doesn’t properly tag the post.
I love it when a popular vanity appears and all the teacher’s pets start scolding and running to the authority figure.
They need a kick in the *&%$ from Corrado Soprano, a la nursing home beat downs.

This is the worst one I’ve seen.
Most good vanities already have one.
Most of the absolutely horrid ones do not.
Even a good vanity makes me mad when it doesn't have “vanity” somewhere in the title.
Let us have an end to VanityRepublic.
Label your vanity posts as “vanity” or I will post a youtube link to a Carly Simon song at you! Don't make me warn you again!!!! ;)
