There's no absolute number. Some stories go "Front Page" with many less diggs and comments than this story has. People can "bury" the story, too. That's what libs do to stories like this.

There's apparently some complex math involved that always winds up keeping conservative stories off the front page.

If we all got on there and dugg a couple targeted stories a day we could change that.

There's a pretty neat tool out there called Digg Bury Recorder. You put in the URL of the digg article, and it shows all the buries and keeps you up to date on how many diggs it has.

The "bury recorder" part of it seems to have stopped working, but it still auto-refreshes to tell you how many diggs a story has.

Click This link to get there, then press the "Watch for Buries" button.

821 diggs right now.
