Washington -- Democrats are closing in on a Senate royal flush.
Although still a long shot, they have raised their goal to a magic and rare 60 members, a filibuster-proof majority of enormous significance.
Depending on how things break Nov. 4 in a handful of states, Democrats could move from a tenuous Senate majority to that filibuster-proof margin for the first time in three decades. Republicans haven't had such a margin since 1911. If Democrats also keep their House majority, which is all but certain, and win the presidency, they would wield power unrivaled in Washington since Democratic President Lyndon Johnson in 1965.

Ah yes. The Democrats reach across the aisle to strangle any “loyal opposition” that remains. This is the aborted attempt at bipartisanship. They were jealous of Saddam Hussein's 99% election results, too.

Just pray we have someone in the white house who can veto their Supermajority.

This article's a pipe dream. Wicker's probably got a slight lead in MS, Dole's in decent shape in NC (but not out of the woods), same with Coleman in MN, word is out that Sununu has a slight lead in NH, and CO race ain't over by a longshot. I also heard the NRSC went back into LA, so they apparently still feel Landrieu is vulnerable.
said Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia. "It's going to be a wave election for Democrats. It's going to be big."
A prediction from one of the biggest Dem cheerleaders around.

Here's an article showing the NRSC returning to Louisiana, as well as Gov. Jindal endorsing
John Kennedy over Landrieu.

The Star Trib actually endorsed Nrm Coleman for reelection over the weekend, so even this liberal rag wants nothing to do with Franken. This endorsement will help with independents. The problem in MN is the third party Ventura handmaiden who is siphoning votes from Norm.
Would welcome any info you have on Chambliss, Dole, and McConnell.
Thanks

Yeah, the third-party candidate is once again giving Coleman fits. I know the Dems are pouring a ton of money into Kentucky, and McConnell's sending out frantic E-mails to raise cash. I think Dole will do okay, mostly because McCain is going to win NC by a comfortable margin. Chambliss has apparently ticked off a lot of conservatives. I hope he wins by a whisker, and learns a valuable lesson. During the last Presidential election NC went for Bush by 12 points, while GA went for him by 17 points. KY was a 20-point victory for Dubya.
So I'd guess all three of them will win re-election. Of the three, I'd estimate Chambliss could be the most vulnerable because he's ticked off his base. Honestly haven't been paying attention to Senate polls, since most of the Presidential polls (usually done simultaneously) have been so laughable.

Stevens was just found guilty, so that likely finished him off. What a darn shame he wasn’t defeated during the primary. Ahhh, well...

Not if we bring back state nullification. Or, better yet, individual nullification. Who’s with me?!!

I’m in NC and there are plenty Republicans unhappy with Dole.
