If you can’t look at the MANY MANY appearances Romney made stumping for John McCain (and still does) and not give him a gesture of thanks, you’re clearly missing something.

Romney is pro-McCain all the way. Compare how he stumped for McCain more than any other ex-candidate after he dropped out of the race.

Compare him to the Huckster who kept in the race for his ego long after it was obvious he couldn’t win. Huckster is far less loyal to the party than Romney.

You people need to bury the Hatchet about Romney for whatever bizarre reason you hate him so much.

Romney would have done far better than either McCain or Palin in the debates.

That said, I’m voting for McCain/Palin. Obamanomics under Obamas “new communists” the NeoComs, would be untolerable.

I personally know 3 Independent voters (2 women, 1 man) who would vote for McCain if he picked either Mitt or Rudy for VP. The two women HATE HATE HATE Sarah, the man is very tepid at best.

I personally think the chicks are jealous of Sarah: they freak when I mention how she (is) “talented and beautiful, with such a nice family”.

The vemon spews...

if this is true indeed. But looking at the crappy convention speech he gave, I could believe it. He is a kind of prima donna.

-—”Mitt was on Fox and Friends this morning and was asked if it was a mistake for McCain to choose Palin instead of him for VP. He said “no, it was a net plus” and went on to talk favorably about her. If what his aid said is true, he didn’t give any indication of that this morning on F and F. That may be his true feelings, but he is being a good soldier as far as I can tell. By they way, I was never a Mitt supporter.”

Ah, a rational voice here...

Let’s keep the focus on stopping Obama-Marx rather than this divisive rumor-mill stuff planted by Libbies.

I appreciate your analysis. If this report is true and your perspective about Romney’s objective is accurate, he shows how far he is misaligned with the Joe Plumbers or the nation and crowds that show up at Palin rally’s.

IOW, most of us.

“But ... Reagan he is not. He’s stuffy, and not a terribly compelling speaker. He looks and acts like a “politician” from central casting. There are much more compelling figures on the right ... I just don’t get the devoted following he has.”

I would have voted for him as the nominee, and I’d have been fine with him as the VP pick. But I agree - he’s not Reagan, and he’s not the future of the Republican Party and the conservative movement.

Eric Cantor, Palin, Bobby Jindal - those are the names for the future.

Most women appear to support Gov. Palin except for RomneyBOTs as you correctly note.

>> Why do you choose to believe this story, naming “unnamed sources”???

I reiterate — my point stands regardless of whether this particular story is accurate. I don’t particularly believe or disbelieve this story ... could be true, could be false. It really doesn’t matter.

Romney only suspended his campign and did not drop out.

Riiiiight. And it depends on what the meaning of "is" is too. You are parsing. The difference between a candidate dropping out and suspending a campaign is a technical one. Romney was not going to reappear in the race unless McCain disappeared. Not once did Romney try to use his delegates against McCain. So your distinction between him "only suspending" is rather moot.

On the other hand I did not see that other candidate with fewer delegates and less of a chance to win even suspend his campaign for party loyalty.

I'm with you on this one. I think the Dems are beyond frightened by Romney, which is why they had to torpedo his run in the primary. The MSM chose our candidate, not us. And we know who they work for.

Put a name to this claim and maybe I would consider it. Anonymous tips? Take a hike.

Facts are tough for Myth Romney and his antiMcCain and antiPalin RomneyBOTs.

"(Romney) said he presumed that Palin's vetting process
was "just as extensive as anyone else on that list.""

"Almost every critical remark made about Palin
on a recent briefing call about her selection came from political consultants
with ties to Romney. Those comments were planted, says one,
because they knew that reporters would be on the call."

[Washington Prowler, American Spectator, Storm Center, 9/2/2008]

(3) Novak: Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign

Said Novak: The rumors were "traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson
."

"....John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

I don’t believe the story. Romney is pretty solid. I don’t think he’d even hint that he thought McCain would lose.

Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. But it was obvious pretty early on that his supporters were somewhat zealous (though maybe not as much as Rudy's or Paul'). I have no doubt that some of his supporters are trying to derail McCain and particularly hate Palin. The real question is whether Romney has any involvment in it.

And let's not forget that Romney IS NOT a conservative as evidenced by his donations to Planned Parenthood, his support for militant homosexuality (and the implementation of homosexual marriage) and socialized medicine (Romneycare).

If Romney had been chosen, at least he would have been more conversant with the economic issues foremost in the minds of the public right now.

Oh sure. They wouldn't have pegged him as a typical ultra-rich, white, blue-blood Republican.

Sure. A multi-millionaire would've been just what the Obama people were afraid of running against! LOL.

Romney wiped out Massachusetts.

The five states with least favorable business climates are Califorinia (lowest ranking), New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Romney was rated a "C" overall by Cato. Here are the facts.

As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal.

No big surprise... Romney wants to run again in 2012... he doesn’t want to send out any endorsements for sound bites.
