- - Nick Lampson's Voter Fraud Attacks on Pete Olson "Ironic"

HOUSTON - As news came out that the FBI was investigating the liberal organization ACORN for voter fraud, Houston-area conservatives blasted Rep. Nick Lampson for his recent, baseless allegations against Pete Olson. CCM members called on Nick Lampson to repudiate ACORN's actions, citing Congressman Nick Lampson's consistent support of ACORN's legislative efforts in Washington.

"I find it ironic that Nick Lampson would make these half-baked, egregious allegations of voter fraud against Pete Olson, when in reality he supports an extremely controversial organization that is currently under investigation by the FBI for just that," stated CCM Houston president Debbie Guitian Roan. "There is crystal clear evidence that Pete Olson committed no such thing, while it's even clearer that Mr. Lampson consistently votes in Congress for legislation pushed by a corrupt organization." "Liberal Lampson's projection of fraudulent activities onto Pete Olson will not go unchallenged or unnoticed with conservatives in the Houston area who are sick of the waste, fraud, and abuse Lampson supports in Washington."

Rep. Nick Lampson has voted for sanctuary cities and government entitlements for illegal immigrants, among others; legislation that ACORN lobbied for and supported. Lampson even voted for the Foreclosure Prevention Act, H.R. 3221, which created a "slush fund" for groups like ACORN to be granted federal tax-payer money. According to the Associated Press, ACORN has already received more than $31 million dollars from various federal agencies since 1998 and untold millions in state and local resources. "Instead of making baseless attacks against his opponent for voter fraud, Nick Lampson should be focusing on making sure ACORN doesn't receive one more red cent of our tax dollars. He should be pointing the finger directly at himself for supporting a group under federal investigation for voter fraud."

CCM Chairman Ken Blackwell has been at the forefront of exposing ACORN's fraud and abuse. You can see Chairman Blackwell's comments here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ccmajority. The Consumer Rights League has also put out a "Multi-Decade History of Fraud" highlighting ACORN's recent scandals. You can view this full document here: http://www.consumersrightsleague.org/uploadedfiles/Latest%20Million%20Dollar%20ACORN%20Scandal.pdf

"We call on all Houston-area congressmen to install taxpayer protections from corrupt groups like ACORN and investigate the misuse of the tax dollars supplied to them. But since Mr. Lampson has been a consistent supporter of their efforts, we're not holding our breath."
