Sarah Palin is the rogue elephant in the GOP war room.
The maverick mom is distancing herself from John McCain and blowing off the advice of senior Republican aides, convinced they're damaging her reputation and ruining the campaign.
Things have gotten so tense between Palin and her traveling staff, an insider said, that she's overruling their advice - which was evident last week when she ignored GOP aides piling into waiting cars at a Colorado event and strolled over to the press corps for an impromptu talk.
In speeches, Palin has contradicted her running mate's positions on issues, telling a Christian news outlet last week that she would support a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage, which McCain opposes.
Though McCain once said he considered Obama's relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be an old issue, this month Palin said, "I don't know why that association isn't discussed more."
Palin also publicly stated that she thought it was a mistake for the campaign to give up on Michigan, and that she thought voters were annoyed by robocalls - which McCain uses extensively.
The last straw for the vice-presidential candidate was the raft of criticism from the $150,000 worth of high-end clothes the Republican National Committee bought her, a campaign source said.
Palin showed how much that gaffe got under her skin yesterday at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, telling the crowd she'd stepped off the plane and donned a warm, cream-colored jacket.
"And it's my own jacket," she said.

Sounds like the msm is getter worried! Could it be that this thing aint over like they have been trying their darndest to convince us of?
McCain has created a Frankenstein! LOL I LOVE HER! Can’t wait to see her (hopefully) tonight!
I was at her rally in Fort Wayne last night. She was 100% on message and hammered the Obama tax plan from beginning to end.
You know the aides are like fair weather fans - the minute their team falls behind they leave...they don’t want to see end of the game.
I think the campaign aides are trying to reign her in instead of letting Sarah be Sarah...
Sarah is more effective off the cuff than being restrained...you see her humor and relatability that is quite charming...
Maybe the ding-dongs don't want McCain to win. The fix is in...and Obama supposedly has an extra $100,000,000 to throw around. How much does a bunch of ding-dongs cost, anyway?

In other news, it's reported that McCain is reallty pissed off at his defeatist staffers and read them the riot act. he told them that he intends to win and I gather, he invited defeatists to get off his train. Frankly, it soulds like there really isn musch susshine between McCain and Palin as it may be third tier hacks grumbling that their advice has been spurned.
McCain wants to go hard at Obama in the days remaining.
So, how is this different to what Palin wants to do?
I’ve talked with three different people in the past few days that feel the same. (2 are Dems)
One guy who hasn’t voted in years (he’s registered Independent) said he was voting this year because of Palin.
The other two, the Dems, don’t like McCain, don’t trust Obama, so they’re left with casting a vote for Palin, just like you.
“There is no truth to this story.”
There is no truth to the democrat party.
Seems Big Media is just now finding out Gov. Palin is a Conservative and Juan is a RINO.
“There is no truth to this story.”
There is no truth to the democrat party.
Obama's plan deserves to be hammered.
The stakes are high. She's very dangerous - to all of the powers that be, in both parties.
If she wants to stay in the game, she's going to have a tough few years.
Just one example of the desperation of this article and our opponents:
“....this month Palin said, “I don’t know why that association isn’t discussed more.”
This month? How many weeks ago was this? “This month” as if it were recent in any way. The “news” is what happened today. This part of their supposed expose isn’t even close. They don’t even date her Michigan comments, maybe because those were ‘last month”. Jeez.
I don't get it. Does the staff think she should have turned against them from the start?
How did the clothing bill get highlighted to the press anyway?
"She's now positioning herself for her own future. Of course, this is bad for John. It looks like no one is in charge."
It only looks that way because you pointed it out, oh anonymous staffer. You're trying to damage Palin for some reason other than to help the campaign. What's your agenda, anonymous one?
Maybe someone should investigate the staffers and see if they have been getting some goodies behind the scenes. ‘Murder will out’ as Chaucer said...
Hope she does and keeps fighting the good fight. The country desperately needs her.
This endlessly repeated, Axelrod planted, story is BS.
It's intended to Divide & Conquer.
Oh, and these stories are always posted by noobs like you.
This is almost certainly diversionary BS.
