Obama on Ayers:

This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood--who's a professor of English in Chicago--uh, who I know, and who I have not, uh, received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.

Obama on Khalidi:

You mention Rashid Khalidi who's a Professor at Columbia. I do know him because he taught at the University of Chicago, uh, and he is Palestinian. Uh, and I do know him. And I have had conversations. He is not one of my advisers. He is not one of my foreign policy people. Uh, his kids went to the lab school where my kids go as well. He is a respected scholar although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israel policy.

He's got a real pattern in how he denies his friends when they're no longer useful to him, much as he denied his country when it was useful for him when he was among his “former” friends.
