The irony, now that the story has been shown to be a hoax, the media will actually cover it. Had it not been a hoax, they would have ignored it.

Probably not. The article seems to suggest that she was unstable for quite a while, and would pose as part of campaigns she was against. If anything, this article screams "Paulbot pretending to be a McCain fan".

She is a person who obviously needs close medical attention. Let us hope she has family and friends who can help her.

I don’t think she is a Ron Paul, John McCain or Mike Huckabee supporter, or part of any actual campaign conspiracy.
I think she is a flake who tried to ingratiate herself with various groups and got “found out” and booted.
