...My conclusion is that the Wooten and Monegan matters reveal an Alaska scandal, but one very different from what has been reported by the national press. The scandal and it is a serious one involves the conduct of the managers of Alaskas police agencies and the political officials who have sought to defend them and attack Governor Palin...

Thanks so much for the post!!
You mean this is,,,,,,political??? The deuce, you say!?!?!
If this article makes it to the LSM, Mr Mamet had better hunker down. Expect the obamachine to give him the same ‘courtesy’ as Joe the Plumber.
He is the real deal. Just think how differently this report would read if Pelosi had called for another one of her "congressional investigations"!
Sarah has been brutally mistreated by the MSM and those forthright and upstanding Obama supporters. Nothing they have said has actually proved to be true or deserving of the scandalous scrutiny she has been forced to endure. The strategy is so obvious and so unprofessional, but it has had the desired effect - diminishing her respectability. You can take a perfectly respectable person, put that person on a stage and throw rotten tomatoes at her relentlessly. Maybe none of the tomatoes hit the mark, but the very nature of the attack is demoralizing and forces her to defend herself. It is “bullying” at its ugliest - something the liberal left is always trying to cure. However the election turns out, she has been “branded” as the next Dan Quale, never to be taken seriously. It is a shame!
This opinion hits the nail on the head. The good ol’ boy network in full bloom. And that makes these Troopergate “investigations” even more odious.
Even more revealing and damning has been former commissioner Monegans definition of the Palin family complaints as acts of harassment against Wooten, and his stated belief that his primary obligation in handling the case was to protect departmental morale. He said: My job was to provide passion and support to 900 people almost 900 people in the Department of Public Safety, and one of them who included Trooper Wooten he was an irritant to her [Governor Palin ]. The statement alone justifies Monegans dismissal, both for its clear indifference to the departments management failings and its even less defensible failure to understand that Alaska s good police officers do not feel support[ed ] by widespread tolerance to the rogue conduct of officers like Wooten.
The recently issued Alaska Legislative Council report is yet another whitewash by state officials and offers further evidence of the states continuing refusal to accept the critical need for structural reform of its police agencies and the performance of their managers. The report found that Governor Palin had grounds to fire Monegan for reasons other than his refusal to dismiss Wooten and further found that her action towards Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.
Despite those determinations, the report made the catch-22 finding that the governor had violated her public trust because her involvement in the Wooten case was an effort to benefit a personal interest through official action. The reports finding is thus that Governor Palin should not have taken admittedly proper action against a police administrator who failed to reform a department that, among other things, excused repeated acts of admittedly intolerable officer conduct including an act that would have been nearly certain to lead to criminal prosecution had it been committed by a civilian.
Wow! I hope this takes wings and feet!
Guess what!!! NBC Today show opens with Michelle, Biden and McCain rallies, then a shot of Sarah and Todd facing Troopergate investigation. Not a word about Sarah’s HUGH rally last night. How can we combat this terrible bias? They are soooo afraid of her.
All 12 people watching were shocked.

I wonder what each of these Dem driven colonoscopies cost?
Send it out to your friends, with the link, of course. I did.
I never bothered to read any of the other stuff put out by the media on the matter...read the headlines...about it...the piece says a mouthful...but I suspect we’ll be informed about Joe the Plumber’s hopes...the plight of the gray wolf in the Rockies...that shoppers are spending less (whether they are or not)...and...and...and that Bush’s tax cuts only helped the rich (whether they did or not).
the media is demoralizing our country. I pray McCain and Palin win. but if they lose. Or even if they win. How many good people are going to want to get involved in politics after this ? I used to dream of being in congress. I dont have the stomach after all of this.
If you have a daughter who dreams of running for President. You myswell tell her to give up on that dream right now.
bttt
Don't watch NBC.
Big difference though is Palin is a real phenom. Recall, they pilloried Reagan too?
More than any candidate in a long time, Palin is a litmus test. Though you wouldn’t know it by the DBM, everyone I know adores her (incl me, Hubba, Hubba). In fact she is “their” worst nightmare in many ways, just as you and I, if we had any power, would be. If she goes away, it will be her decision, not their’s. We all know where McCain would be right now without her.
This is an excellent article, well thought out and well written. Definitely worth reading the entire article. I would love to see this article get wider attention.
