Back in September before the financial crisis broke, McCain Palin were leading even among registered voters. They lost the lead shortly after that and to date haven't regained it. So its a big mountain to climb.

Did they lose their lead or is that when the media and pollsters decided to start skewing the polls as a strategy to make it look like Obama is inevitible?

i agree. i think if things had stayed fairly stable, we’d be in good shape now. That’s obviously what McCain, Schmidt, et al were planning on back in August. So much for the best laid plans.

Without the economic collapse, VA, NC, and MO would all be pretty safe and this election would come down to OH, FL, CO and NV and I’d feel fairly good about that.

Oh well.
