There is no way that McCain/Palin has a chance in Mi.

The problem here is people have come to believe their own nonsense over the past few months about how McCain will win PA or MI or MN. There is not a shred of proof of this, he is down by double digits in PA and MI, and fighting to keep his hopes alive in VA, NC and CO.

To win, McCain must hold off O in FL, VA, NC, MO, IN and OH. And then he has to win CO and NV. This is a tall order. He is on the defensive in too many states. I just don't see him pulling it off right now.

Perhaps the polls will change over the next 10 days, but I don't see it happening. Again, I hope I am wrong.

I think we have a winner for the bullpuckey-of-the-day award.

Thanks. If I have to win bull puckeys to make McCain gain votes, I will do so. The problem is, no matter how many bull puckeys I win, McCain is still having to fight in MO, VA, NC, IN, CO, NV, FL and OH. He has to win ALL of those states to win the Presidency. Otherwise he will win a bullpuckey.

The birth certificate issue will not go away. Whether now or later, he’s going to have to prove he passes the constitutional test of a natural-born U.S. citizen.

Whether now or later

If it is after the election, what difference does it make? If has to be now.

The only real chance we have here in Michigan is Prop 2. We will have a strong Christian turnout for that. Embryonic Stem Cell research. So that could work in McCains favor, I hope anyways.

In Michigan, we would have had a chance had the GOP run ads about Jenny G and the lousy economy for the last month. It would have resonated big time and then McCain/Palin could have taken advantage of the resentment and possibly pulled the upset.

At this point, with no presence of a campaign to rally around, I doubt there is a chance of us losing the state by only a few percentage points. I think it will be above 5%.

Aren’t you happy the GOP didn’t even field a candidate for senate or 2nd congressional district. but some how green party got to run a candidate. I worked with the libertarian party for years and were told we couldnt put a candidate on the ballot, only presidential but somehow the greens get a shot. it pisses me off everytime the state GOP sends me an email about their”progress” what progress.

Everytime people say we can win Michigan this is what I say:

MICHIGAN HAS THE DUMBEST VOTER BASE IN THE COUNTRY (NEW JERSEY IS A VERY CLOSE 2ND)

When your unemployment rate is double digits and Democrats run your state and tax it to death and you vote for the same thing your DUMB.

When the foundation of the economy is oil and gas and your Democrat representatives vote no to drilling and put you out of work you are DUMB.

Sorry Michigan but the truth hurts. By the way GO APPSTATE.

I wish you were right, but unfortunately you are not. I live in central Michigan (Grand Rapids area), the western part of the state will go McCain, with the exception of the Battle Creek area of course.

In my opinion, there is just no overcoming the human orafice that is Detroit. It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results even though experience has shown otherwise. That is Detroit. They will continue to overwhelmingly support the Democrats even though it is precisely that support which has caused the utter destruction of their city.

In addition, there are so many people scattered throughout the state that have had jobs move to other countries.....they are mad and they blame Bush, and as a result McCain; its not fair in my opinion, but it is the way it is. The bottom line for the majority of Michiganders is the pocket book, which is also understandable, though very myiopic: personally I’d rather be broke and free than middle class and oppressed.

I have seen tons of McCain/Palin signs where I live. Most of the Obama signs I see are (1) teachers (2) uaw (3) houses that look like they want some of our ‘wealth’.

McCain can afford to lose a few of those if he wins PA.

Over the last 20 years, population in Wayne County has fallen by 12% yet the votes cast have risen by 16%.

In Oakland County, which R’s used to carry easily, they are now lucky to carry at all. Population has risen by 18% but votes cast have risen by 39%.

goldstategop is right. Michigan has already been stolen. Read this post from John Podhoretz:

I am not a conspiracy theorist by any means. But something is desperately and frighteningly wrong with this story:

"A record 7.47 million Michiganians are registered to vote in the Nov. 4 general election, state officials announced Wednesday, including sharp increases in Democratic bastion Wayne County and several college areas where Barack Obama’s campaign has been especially active. That’s a 4.6 percent jump from January and represents a whopping 98 percent of the state’s voting age population, reported Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land. It’s also a 4.3 percent increase from the 2004 presidential election, even though the state’s population has dropped off by 30,000 in the past year alone. Since July, 230,000 new voters have registered."

It is, quite simply, impossible that 98 percent of the voting age population of any state has actually registered to vote. This is fraud on a colossal scale.

So basically, Michigan has already been stolen. That's why McCain pulled out.

"...they blame Jenny, not the Bush White House and they want to "punish" the Democrats."

Actually, it is astonishing to me how the Dims do NOT blame Grandmole, rather, they believe it's all "Bush's fault." It is truly incredible to me.
