(DENVER) Former Broncos quarterback and Colorado icon John Elway will appear with John McCain this morning at a rally here, but there are signs that the GOP does not believe McCain has a strong chance in the state.
The Republican Party cut almost half of their television advertising for McCain in Denver, according to a story by the Associated Press. Polls show a solid but not huge lead for Barack Obama here, a state that President Bush carried twice.
In addition to a morning rally here, McCain has stops in Colorado Springs and Durango.
“but there are signs that the GOP does not believe McCain has a strong chance in the state”
More wishful thinking.
As a Browns fan I never liked him. But he’s on my side now for once, sorta...
I think we better keep this hush hush. This won’t help in attracting those voters in Ohio who happen to be Browns fans. Think, “The Drive”, and “The Fumble”.
Yeah, no chance to win the state and McCain is doing events all over the place. RIIIIGGGGGHTTT.
“Oh, my! Elway!”
Me too.
Now there’s a guy who knows a little something about impossible 4th quarter comebacks. Let’s hope a little of that Elway magic rubs off on McCain and Sarah.
Do you get the sense McCain and Sarah are pro football fans? Namath yesterday, Elway today.
It’s all good - Joe the Plumber is a Bengals fan.
Gee! you beat me to that punchline. He beat the KC Chump’s a lot too!
Me too. Always a classy guy. You don’t see many of those in pro sports.
Carl Cameron was talking an hour ago like McCain had given up on CO and was conentrating on PA instead.
I can’t believe anything that anyone says from any news org in this election.
Can Elway orchestrate yet another 4th quarter comeback?
YOU BETCHA!
Elway is a God in Colorado.
As a Browns fan I never liked him. But hes on my side now for once, sorta...
Yeah, Ihope he can help re-create “The Drive” for McCain.
I was likeed heem too!
Elway is one of those rich white folks who need to be punished by spreading their wealth around!
The state of the Republic would seem to indicate that the presence and support of a person who can throw footballs for a living will help in the struggle to become the leader of the free world.
Gotta say, that it ain’t necessarily my cup of tea, but hey, this is the election season of paradox.
In the end, the endorsement could possibly change some minds in Colorado. It could also hit Elway in the wallet, but then again, so would an Obama administration. So, I do appreceate him sticking his neck out.
Maybe he should look into running for office himself?
