I think McCain should clearly state she only volunteered for one week and was a Ron Paul supporter. Probably she is an Obama supporter now. Remember, Ron Paul was a critic of the War in Iraq ..I think it was a set up and she’s an Obama pawn.
Were you one of those people who said yesterday you thought McCain should go to the press and blame this on Obama himself?
We have no clue if she was ever really a Ron Paul supporter and we definitely have no idea how long she supported McCain. Lots of former Paul supporters have been supportive of McCain since the convention. All we have is some myspace page that probably isn’t even her (doesn’t look like her, the ages don’t match, and the college doesn’t match) that casually mentions Pauls name twice- and on that evidence you want McCain to just go shoot from the hip???
McCain shouldn’t say ANYTHING. He handled it perfectly already “how sad, hope she gets better soon” and now drop it. It’s not going to hurt him if he drops it. She’s a nutters and everyone knows they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and parties.
How does that mean this possible Ron Paul supporter is an Obama supporter? There are so many other issues than Iraq.
Why should he say that, when it isn't true, and it would make him sound like a complete idiot. Ethan Eilon, executive director of the College Republicans National Committee, told FOX News Todd was volunteering as a field representative through his organization and that she had taken a year off from her studies at Blinn College to work on the campaign. Elsewhere, Eilon has been quoted as saying that Todd had been working for the campaign in New York "for several months", before moving to work in Pennsylvania 2 weeks ago.
I disagree. I think McCain should say, (a) He really hopes that she gets the help she needs (he has); and (b) he denounces and rejects race-baiting of any kind. Whatever her mental condition, her behaviour was detestable.
He could turn this into a positive with a strong “denounciation” statement like that.
