Supposedly the attack happened out of range of the cameras.
After I saw the pictures my belief waned, too. The “B” was just a little too neat to be scratched in by a deranged attacker.
That was my first thought. Also, the 'cuts' are much too shallow to be from an attacker. On the other hand, it doesn't explain the other facial injuries. I'd like to hear the explanation for those.
