Eddie Adams, Florida Republican Candidate, Gets Burned

Florida Congressional candidate Eddie Adams Jr. (R) was admitted to Tampa General Hospital Sunday suffering from severe burns on the hands and arms. He will be undergoing additional skin grafts Tuesday.

A vandal tied a mattress to the underside of Mr. Adams pick-up truck. Friction with the road, and contact with the catalytic converter combined to ignite the bedding.

As he drove down Busch Boulevard in Tampa, Florida, onlookers began to wave and shout

I think I want to see this from another source. Tied a mattress under his truck? How about the matress fell off a pickup taking it to the dump, Adams ran over it, snagged it, didn't notice and dragged it a ways? Now, if it was "deliberately tied to the frame" that's a different matter but sometimes stories improve with the telling.

They are looking into it though, they said they heard something peripheral a couple days ago, but they were largely unaware of it too. York was trying to research it yesterday.

Hillsborough County Sheriff have tallied 90 reports of vandalism against cars with Republican campaign bumper stickers, and 7 such incidents against cars with Democrat bumper stickers.

I am sure his skin color has nothing to do with this, I hope he wins in a landslide.

This is despicable. I don’t know what message the perpetrator was trying to send, but the act, IMO, is attempted murder. I hope they catch the perp and throw his a$$ UNDER the jail.

Research? All they have to do is call the man. The Florida Sentinel Bulletin, a black newspaper heavily in the tank for Democrats, did interview the story, but I am not sure if they have yet reported it.

If he was driving and just started dragging it, he would almost CERTAINLY noticed the new drag on the vehicle and the sound.

On the other hand, if it was a thin foam type mattress that can easily be folded and wrapped around and secured. This would be a pretty decent way to hide the fact that the vehicle had been tampered with and NOT show evidence to the driver or occupants until the heat from the catalytic converter started the foam ablaze.
