Sarah Palin invoked Joe the Plumber and Joe the Quarterback last night in a combination political-pep rally in a packed football stadium in Beaver County -- an overwhelmingly Democratic blue-collar region being energetically sought by the Republican ticket in the waning days of the presidential campaign.
Ms. Palin, the GOP vice presidential nominee, invoked native son Joe Namath's upset win with the New York Jets in the 1969 Super Bowl and attacked Democratic nominee Barack Obama's economic proposals as socialism.
"He's hiding his agenda of redistributing your hard-earned money," Ms. Palin, the Alaska governor, told a raucous crowd at the Beaver High School Stadium.
She cited Mr. Obama's encounter earlier this month with Joe Wurzelbacher, a Toledo, Ohio, plumber who pressed him to explain his tax policies. At the time, Mr. Obama cited his proposal to raise taxes on incomes over $250,000 as an attempt to "spread the wealth."
"Somehow Joe accomplished something none of the rest of us has been able to do. He got our opponent to finally state his intentions in plain language," Ms. Palin said. "Joe the Plumber said it sounded like socialism. Now is not the time to experiment with socialism."
Even before Ms. Palin invoked that term, some in the crowd were shouting it, with one adding, "Tell him to go back to Indonesia. Tell him to show his birth certificate."

Jeremiah Wright apprentice lost the White vote to Hillary Clinton by 30 points during the democrat primaries in Pennsylvania but now an insane pollster is telling us that he is beating McCain by 5 points among Whites.
Not insane. Just a Democratic shill. :-)
Fellow western Pennsylvanian here...I can tell you, there are a vast number of old school Democrats in this area that are getting fed up with the new age RATS and not a one of them that I have spoken to are voting for Obama. There’s scores of support for McCain and Palin and if we can overcome the voter fraud in the eastern part of PA, McCain will carry this state. It’s my dream come true...PA finally seeing the light!
I always wanted to say that I went to Beaver High.
Sarah was on Hannity & Nutcase (aka: Hannity & Colmes) and she is a class act. Her family should be showcased as the American Family with family values — NOT the Lohan family!
They are looking at her face not upskirt..
Now, they are running ads against Tom Corbett, our solid state AG because he didn't arrest any Republicans.
The record is there. A left-wing rag published at the time is preserved, showing that Obama ran for office as a member of their party, the New Party (lots of CPUSA and ACORN types co-habiting there), "running as a Democrat", i.e. disguising his real affiliation from Chicago voters.
He's doing it again, but on a national stage, and the MSM is carrying his water for him.
Frontline interviewed Tom Daschle in their campaign special last week, and Daschle let it out of the bag, that Obama's basic strategy is to run for the highest office in the land while letting out as little information as possible about what he really t
Great post. Love that photo. Ping for later.
Heard Berg on 560 am this morning in chicago.
Sorry about the composition glitch ..... other pages auto-refreshing (one of those subscription sites that won't let you turn off their frenetic auto-refresh unless you pay them => => typos, misgreps, etc.).
First I've read that a a city's major paper has mentioned the birth certificate matter. It's gaining more traction with each passing day.
I haven’t seen this anywhere in the MSM. Why not?
spoken like a true liberal or feminist. Mrs and Miss were terms used to indicate marital status of a female, this is true, but it was for the benefit of both male and female in order to keep men away from other men's wives. The men were the ones doing the chasing when these terms were invented and almost every language has the equivalent of Mrs and Miss incorporated in it.
The reasons should be obvious to anyone who knows what life was like back in the day,and I mean way back.
Women were protected from other men when they were married and they wanted people to know it.
It had nothing to do with women depending on a married title defining their value. In fact young women had more "value" as it were when single, they brought a good price to their fathers in some countries, in others they made the man they were marrying richer by bringing a big dowry into the marriage.
The whole idea that women should be ashamed of being called Mrs. is ludicrous and just one more liberal piece of PC garbage shoved at us by the left.
BTW, the original poster said she should have been called by her correct title which is Governor, not Ms. and you seemed to miss that point entirely . The MSM did the same thing to Bush, always calling him Mr. Bush and never President Bush.
Yep, Anyone who buys the polls claiming that any candidate in this race could win PA by 10 points is not remotely credible. Fauxbama on his best day could only hope to win by a squeaker, claiming some 10+ poitn lead nationally let alone in PA is laughable.
Thanks, glad to see someone else here willing to tell the defeatists listening to the national polls, and those who haven’t ventured outside Philly the truth. Fauxbama will not win PA folks, he has the weakest support on the ground since Dukakis, there is little support outside the UMC and University and black neighborhoods.
He’s losing among lower class and blue collar whites and retirees. I have no dillusions that Fauxbama will win Philly, but he won’t win it by the margins of Kerry and he won’t be able to hold onto it as the rest of the state comes in. The support here in the other “blue” bastion isn’t there. Kerry held on by less than 150k votes, and that was with the full core behind him and the state machine firing on all cylinders... Fauxbama does not have either of these. He’s losing PA.
Actually Mister (Mr.) does imply marital status for a male.
A single male is called Master, a married man is called Mister.
Now Master is no longer PC, so folks will say Mister when referring to a single male, but in reality that is improper. Single males honorary is Master, married are Mister.
The Wall Street Journal this morning is in full Obama mode. Murdoch is really sucking up to O in the WSJ and Fox. Obama said he was going to go after Fox if he won.
The WSJ editorial was awful. Nothing mentioned about W PA, PUMAs, Obama being whipped badly by Hillary, etc.
Sarah is pulling crowds 2 1/2 times larger than Obambi and McCain is even pulling bigger crowds.
On those cooked state polls, here is a timely article from Stolen Thunder:
http://stolenthunder.blogspot.com/2008/10/cooking-polls-state-poll-edition.html
And a money quote regarding SurveyUSA,which many around here inexplicably think is a reputable outfit (note that he is running up the score by using 2006 data, not the arguably more relevant 2004 data):
Pennsylvania: D+5 in 2006, SUSA using D+19, 15 point variance
Indiana: R+14 in 2006, SUSA using R+1, 13 point variance
Nevada: R+7 in 2006, SUSA using D+6, 13 point variance
Colorado: R+3 in 2006, SUSA using D+9, 12 point variance
Iowa: R+2 in 2006, SUSA using D+10, 12 point variance
Virginia: R+3 in 2006, SUSA using D+9, 12 point variance
Ohio: D+3 in 2006, SUSA using D+13, 10 point variance
Missouri: R+1 in 2006, SUSA using D+7, 8 point variance
North Carolina: R+1 in 2006, SUSA using D+5, 6 point variance
In the South (or at least my Southern family) we were taught that Master was to be used for males under 12. After that, Mister would be used.
