This is what fight the smears said:
When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdoms dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.s children.
Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982.

So they’re saying that he was born in Hawaii but that he started out life with dual citizenship - U.S./Kenya. When he came of age, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired, leaving him with just his U.S. citizenship.
If he were born in Hawaii, then he’s a U.S. citizen. There would also be a birth certificate. Since Team Hussein is hedging on this issue, my guess is that there is no birth certificate, and that Philip Berg’s scenario is probably correct: Ann Dunham gave birth in Kenya, then quickly traveled to Hawaii to register the birth and make a public announcement. She may have been hoping that most people would not notice the difference between a regular birth certificate and a Certificate of Live Birth.
“Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya,”
He might as well have.
