You do not have nor have you ever had your birth certificate.What you have is a copy.The original is with the county where you are born.If lost yours and need a copy you can go there and get one .This the COLB that is in question,not some piece of paper Barry might have in a shoe box somewhere.

Yup, DAS-PATRIOT, that's what I was also getting at. I have the original "birth certifcate" given to my parents by the hospital. It's an informal, non-legal document - a nice keepsake, but that's all. I also have a copy of my legal birth certificate, which is a whole nuther animal. If I applied for a driver's license, Social Security, etc. using the keepsake, I'd be tossed out the door since it has as much legal standing as would a PhD from the "diploma mills" that advertise in the Enquirer classified's section.
