Court upholds Bianca Jagger's Manhattan eviction

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York's top court has upheld the eviction of Bianca Jagger from a rent-stabilized Manhattan apartment.

The Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that foreigners on tourist visas cannot claim New York digs as a "primary residence."

The globe-trotting human rights activist and ex-wife of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger was evicted in December from the Upper East Side apartment she rented for 20 years.

Rent control is stupid enough, but when you see it apply to places that cost more than the avg. American salary and in this case probably should cost $100K per year in rent or more (at real market prices) it is truly ridiculous.

Ms. Jagger is not exactly the obvious poor person living in a cheap dive in the Bronx......

Yet, her rent is heavily subsidized (or had been before this decision). WHY?
