McCain has cut into Obama's lead for a second day and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 Wednesday and 6.0 Tuesday. The Republican is making headway with middle- and working- class voters, and has surged 10 points in two days among those earning between $30,000 and $75,000. He has also gone from an 11-point deficit to a 9-point lead among Catholics.

But, But John Zogby says this poll and AP are Outliers
After decades of subscription, I recently canceled my WSJ subscrption. Every day - every day - front page pro-Obama story for the last 4 months. Bye.
It's not McCain. It's Palin.
“...perhaps thats why the Battleground tracking poll doesnt poll on Friday or Saturday”
I would think it has something to do with the fact the conservatives tend to be at Church, doing activities with their families and out enjoying life, while libs stay home in Momma’s basement clicking on online porn sites.
Well it is life Sunday. Woohoo!
If McCain ends up taking the younger vote, after all the brainwashing from MTV et al, then it will be extraordinary. I wonder how IBD is getting a different result from this group than most of the other polls. It makes me a bit nervous and wondering if their methods are off. I sure hope not.
This is the polling firm that called 2004 election withing four tenths of a percent....
I hope you don’t mind me asking what is your location?
GO McCain/Palin 08
“God Love Ya” LOL
For Biden, a more accurate shout out might be “Bless your heart”-like they say it down South. When they say it, it’s not a compliment. It means they think you’re a complete idiot or utterly pathetic, but are too nice to say it outright.
Barack/Biden-”Bless your hearts!”
Maybe they have figured out what many others have started to weave together.. Obama wants to bring mandatory service for everyone in the form of draft...
Excellent observation. First, some young believe that socialism is great, as long as you get a job. Some believe they may not be able to get one. Second, Biden's gaffe has led many to state that Obama wants a draft. In fact, Obama himself has hinted at it in a few reports I have read.
You noticed that too, huh? I'm on the verge of doing the same thing, esp. after their phony baloney poll out yesterday.
DITTO FOR BOB BARR!!!
Apart from this perhaps being from a small sample size, here’s what I’ve noted among the 18-24 year old demographic.
My 20 year old is a grad student at a university. He’s in a private U, business grad program. Lots of his classmates are conservative when it comes to politics (many are older than he is but still within the demographic)...they’re business majors, and business favors conservatives. Even his profs are picking apart O’s tax plan. So you have that group of conservative students who will vote for McCain.
Then you have the normal group of liberal arts, world peace, save the environment, indoctrinated students and those kids will probably vote for Obama.
But there’s a third portion of that demographic that are good students, but also party/hardy college students and they tend toward libertarian beliefs (they’d like to see less laws...drug laws to be specific). Those kids (and I know a few), are voting for McCain, 0 worship doesn’t appeal to them at all, too “follow the crowdish” for their liking.
So, IMHO, it would not be unreasonable to see at least a 50/50 split among that demo for McCain and Obama, possibly a 66/33 for McCain.
Bless your heart, Joe Biden! Hope you’re girding your loins!
That is kind of an odd swing; almost similar to the way many of the pollsters come out and correct things just before elections, so that they don’t get accused of being idiots or trying to push the polls for the Dems. When will they learn.
My guess is the youth won’t show up en masse.
Young voters today are not streaming audio on the web or getting their news from Fox. I don’t have TV, but I susspect such statements by Obama, about fighting in our wars, never see the light of day on the media that youngsters view. Actually, it’s news to me.
I noted this to someone else, but...what do you think about McCain backing into Iowa? I simply presumed that was long dead gone. He has several events posted there; either the internals are showing some daylight or he enjoys wasting time and ethanol.
I’m pretty encouraged by this stuff ~ but I’m also a big optimist.
Hold all the battlegrounds and add PA to the mix!!
