Many Democrats are more liberal than JFK. In 1962, JFK proposed tax rate cuts that were similar to the cuts that Reagan proposed in 1981 & ‘86. In 1968, then-VP Humphrey gave a speech that said that the government should discourage out-of-wedlock births. In the 1960’s, many Democrats were more conservative, but, since then, the majority of Democrats became more liberal. When and why did they become more liberal? I’m 41, and I haven’t read why and when Democrats became more liberal.
