I knew that from the beginning. She’s right of center and people love her. About time we had someone that could connect to people that wasn’t a liberal, like Clinton.
"JR: Governor, let me ask you, how many undocumented immigrants are in Alaska?
SP: I don't know. I don't know. That's a good question.
JR: Governor, how would you address the situation involving undocumented individuals in the United States that should be [might be?] deported?
SP: There's no way for the United States to arrest every undocumented individual. There are close to 12 million undocumented individuals. We, in our position, John McCain has stated his position clearly, and it makes sense: we need to secure the borders first. But then with a comprehensive program, we ought to have a humanitarian reform for those who are found here. We ought to take steps to protect families that remain here, perhaps by legalizing them.
JR: Do you think it's a good idea to give driver's licenses to undocumented individuals?
SP: I don't believe that we should give driver's licenses to undocumented invididuals.
JR: Not at all?
SP: No, I don't.
JR: Sticking with immigration, ICE has deported 5 million undocumented individuals and has separated many families. Would you suspend the raids until Congress makes legislative changes?
SP: Well, the unfortunate part of the raids is that they affect families, and they separate parents from their children. And that's tragic.
JR: But isn't suspending the raids a humanitarian way of treating undocumented individuals?
SP: We have to look at it on a case-by-case basis. Sitting here today, it isn't possible to tell you about a general way of eliminating the steps we have taken in the past. Not even regarding the raids. It's best to look at it case by case, considering all of the ramifications of every individual action regarding a raid."
