PRETENDERS star CHRISSIE HYNDE hates talking about politics because she's convinced Americans are not ready to elect a black president.
The singer admits she is a fan of Democrat Barack Obama, but doesn't think her fellow countrymen will vote him into the White House when they go to the polls on 4 November (08).
She tells Blender magazine, "To be honest, there's nothing I want to talk about less than politics. I'd rather vomit and lick it up.
"I like Obama, but he's not gonna win. Trust me, I know my people."

It must really irritate her that her best known song is well known only because it is the signature tune of the Rush Limbaugh program.

She said something awful and outrageous a few years back. I don't remember what...I only remember that I hate her now. I think she said the U.S. deserved 9-11 or something like that. It's not on her wiki and I'm too lazy to go see what she said.
It's a shame because The Pretenders was a great band.

Does she mean her people the "Leftest" won't come out to vote? I hope she's right!

Isn't that by The Rolling Stones? No, it's called "My City is Gone" -- The Pretenders
What they're pretending to be, God only knows.

The song is called “My City Was Gone”. The Pretenders own the song and Rush reportedly pays them half a million a year to use that music provided Chrissie Hynde’s voice is not used. BTW Hynde’s parents are HUGE Rush Limbaugh fans!

BTW Hyndes parents are HUGE Rush Limbaugh fans! That has to bite! No wonder she wants to barf and eat it. $500K to use the music has to ease the pain...it's not like she is on top anymore.

(I love the music though.)

It's a shame because The Pretenders was a great band. I would respectfully disagree; they were the music intelligentsia's pet in the early 80's, supported by heavy rotation in a burgeoning video medium at the same time. While we may argue through the decades about our tastes at particular times, I would say The Pretenders fail to meet any standard of "great band" in the whole.
My own opinion is that they were interesting but forgettable, and only interesting because they were presented to me on the teevee. Had only The Pogues been so savvy....
