Gov. Crist on Felon Voting Rights in Florida (Outrage Alert)

Florida Governor Charlie Crist says the state is investigating whether thousands of felons are on the voting rolls who shouldn’t be.

Last year the state cabinet voted to automatically restore the civil rights of more than 130,000 non-violent offenders.

A recent newspaper investigation found 30,000 felons who are still banned from voting are registered to cast ballots on Election Day.

Governor Charlie Crist says he has confidence that Secretary of State Kurt Browning will handle the problem.

"One of the things we’ve try to do, and I think successfully, is have former felons have the ability to vote much sooner than they could previously in the state of Florida and I’m very encouraged by that. I think people deserve a second chance but I look forward to hearing from the secretary about it,” says Gov. Crist.

Browning says there’s a good chance some of the ineligible voters will cast ballots on Election Day.

The Florida AG admitted tonight on Greta that they wouldn't be doing anything about the 30,000 felons that ACORN signed up to vote in Florida. But it turns out that those 30,000 ineligible felons are just the VIOLENT felons who still can't vote. It turns out that last year Crist gave 120,000 non-violent felons the right to vote with the stroke of a pen.

So that's 150,000 felons in all- thanks for REPUBLICAN Governor Charlie Crist and REPUBLICAN Secretary of State Browning. I'd expect this crap in a Democrat-run state, but not a republican- what is going on here? Florida has 27 electoral votes and the polls show the race tied- this could decide the election.

Charlie Crist is an idiot and I hope his political career ends soon. I hope he loses an election by a few hundred votes and felons are the reason he loses.

A wee bit over the top, no? Of course, I say this because I once got a DUI. It was 15 yrs ago, while in my 20’s. If that’s all you knew about me, you’d say too bad, right?

Would it make any difference to you if I said I was a Veteran of this country? That I had bullets flying downrange at me while wearing our nation’s uniform? I Went to court to get custody of my youngest brother at the age of 22, so that he wouldn’t end up in foster care, since our Mom was dead and our Dad in jail? I’ve always paid all of my taxes, always voted conservatively, in every election? You would take away my right to have a say in how that money was spent?

Any difference yet?

How about my attending night school over six years to get a college degree? Perhaps my donations to church based organizations, and St Jude Hospital would make you see that a “crime” should not bar people for life? Would it make a difference that I raised a daughter to adulthood, who at 19yrs old lives on her own, goes to college and is part of the young Republicans we hear so much about? Or is it possible you wouldn’t think this fellow Republican voter was dirt if you knew that I have two other daughters who are ace students, because I read to them and teach them right from wrong.

No...not working for you...? I should be barred from voting? Forever?

I could go on..really, but, based on your comment, I’m not talking to a human being anyway. And, perhaps, only humans should be able to vote. We should make THAT a law.

Go McCain!

You deserve to vote. Thanks for all your great attributes. One mistake in life should not diminish all the good you have done. Free Republic has quite a few perfect people like phillipgander. Some would destroy Jesus if they thought it would prove how perfect and arrogant they are.

MY Governor Charlie Christ is a camera hog similar to chuckie schumer.
I believe Christ is a RINO on social issues but he is thrifty on spending.
He couldn’t carry Jeb Bushs’ athletic supporter.
